Don’t let this variety of pink packaging and floral scents fool you, we are indeed looking at my March burn list and not going back in time. For some reason, I prefer the sweet floral fragrances when it get’s closer to Spring. It just so happens that all the packaging blends together beautifully and will fit right in with my Easter décor! Without further ado, here is what I play on burning throughout the next month.

CANDLES

• Champagne Toast – “Glittering champagne, wild berries, tangerine zest”
• Lavender Macaron –
“Celebrate the city of love with a truly French treat that combines the scent of lavender blossoms with a patisserie cookie”
• Lavender Marshmallow –
“The merging of two unexpected flavors, Lavender and Marshmallow, make this mouthwatering blend a special treat”
• Pink Petal Tea Cake –
“Rose Petals, Fluffy Cake and Orange Essential Oil”
• Raspberry Peach Macaron –
“The ultimate French cookie is celebrated in a unique blend of ripe raspberries, juicy peach and almond cream”

WAX MELTS

• Pink Velvet – “This sweet and fun fragrance mingles sugared lemon, apple and pineapple into a sweet heart of tropical punch and red currant. Sugar cane and vanilla bean in the base deliver a captivating finish.”
• Umbridge –
“Tea & cakes, sugar dusted roses and cotton candy”

If the past month was any indication, I don’t think I’ll have any trouble getting through this entire burn list. I can’t believe I only have two wax melts in my entire collection that fit this sweet floral theme – expect to see multiples in my empties!

With October upon us it also means it’s time to fully embrace pumpkin everything! I tend to have themes each month so I don’t get sick of certain fragrances too quickly. I wouldn’t want to be over the pumpkin scents before it was even Halloween! I’m keeping the burn list small again this month because I’ll finally be getting married and going on my honeymoon in the next couple of weeks!

CANDLES

• Pumpkin Cupcake – “Whipped Buttercream, Madagascar Vanilla, Pumpkin Spice, Freshly Baked Cupcake”
• Pumpkin Spiced Cheesecake – “Spiced Pumpkin, Graham Cracker Crust, Whipped Cream Cheese”
• Pumpkin Pie – “Creamy Pumpkin, Vanilla Creme, Fresh Ground Nutmeg, Graham Cracker Crust”

WAX MELTS

• Pumpkin Butter Cookies – “A delectable harvest pumpkin medley interwoven with spicy nutmeg, powdered cinnamon and pure vanilla cream cookie dough sweetened with a sprinkle of rich brown sugar”
• Spiced Cupcakes – “Fresh from-the-oven cake spiced with sugared cinnamon, crushed clove, and bright ginger topped with cream cheese frosting and candied orange zest”
• Spiced Pumpkin Swirl – “Bring the comforting aroma of autumn spices to your home”
• Perfect Pumpkin Ale – A blend of fresh pumpkin and effervescent ale with a hint of fall spices
• Pumpkin Patch Maze – “Fresh harvest pumpkin gently lifted by the woody aroma of turning leaves and woodland bark infused with the earthy evergreen scent of pinecones”
• Moonlit Magic Pumpkin –  “Brilliant bergamot spun with moonlit woods and luminous greens float above clove spiced pumpkin fruit, floriental pumpkin flower, hints of incense and rich wood smoked embers”

Even though I’ll only be around two weeks out of the entire month, I think this is still a reasonable burn list. I’m seriously thinking of bringing wax on our honeymoon just in case the hotel room smells weird. Does anyone else do this? Hopefully I’m not the only wax crazed person out there!

In case you missed it in my most recent burn list, I’m dedicating the entire month of September to apple everything! When I think of the start of Fall my mind immediately goes to orchards, cider, apple crisp, and my favorite candles. It didn’t occur to me until last year how much I actually loved apples until I had a look at my stash and there were significantly less pumpkin fragrances. In honor of this lovely autumnal fruit, I’m going to be sharing my all-time favorite apple items with you!

Fall Fun Series | All About Apples | Favorite Apple Candles

My top 3 apple scented candles all come from Bath & Body Works; Leaves, Cider Lane, and Radiant Red Maple. I always start off September with Leaves which smells like a honeyed apple cider. Then I move onto the deliciously sweet caramel apple fragrance, Cider Lane. I unfortunately only have one more Radiant Red Maple in my collection and refuse to burn it since BBW hasn’t brought it back, but it’s a lovely blend of apples and marshmallow.

Fall Fun Series | All About Apples | Favorite Apple Wax Melts

I always enjoy amping up my candles with corresponding wax melts and these 3 just happen to be my favorites when it comes to apples. Apple S’mores is an exact dupe for Radiant Red Maple so I luckily can still enjoy the scent. Unfortunately Scentsy just retired this but if you can somehow still get your hands on it, do it! A great dupe for Cider Lane that’s available all year is Goose Creek’s Caramel Applewood. Finally, ScentSationals Warm Apple Pie is an amazing bakery scent with undertones of apple that’s absolutely divine.

Fall Fun Series | All About Apples | Favorite Apple Body Care

The only apple scented body care I’ve ever enjoyed was released from Bath & Body Works last year. Don’t let the name Pumpkin Apple Cider fool you. It’s a straight up mix of apple cider and apple pie that is absolutely incredible. I’m so sad I only have one body cream left and might just head on over to Ebay for some more, it’s that good!

If you live in New England or have ever visited in the fall, you’ll understand why I’m a bit addicted to apple scents. Everything I’ve shared today just embodies Autumn in my area. These scents bring me back to apple picking on a crisp day and the aroma of sweet treats at my local art festival. In my opinion, there’s honestly nothing better than these holy grail apple fragrances of mine! 😉

Wow, July went by in a blur! Between finalizing wedding details and starting a new freelance gig, I don’t know where the rest of my time went. Even though it was another busy month for me, I managed to get through a good portion of my stash! I burned through 6 candles and 10 wax melts in July!

July 2017 Candle Empties

Salted Oak Bonfire (3-wick) On cold, I was a little weary of this scent because it had a slight perfume note reminding me of body care. When burning it totally transformed though and was very reminiscent of the beloved Summer Bonfire from 2015. It performed beautifully until there was only 1/4 left and then went to the melter. Throw was almost a 9 and it traveled throughout the majority of the house!
Watermelon Lemonade (1-wick) This little “Try Me” candle was horrible when burning. Between the tunneling and throw that reminded me of a Yankee, I ended up putting it on the melter. However, once transferred to the melter it threw really well for a couple days!
Sunlit Garden (3-wick) A lighter floral note that reminded me of early summer mornings from my childhood! While this candle brought on the nostalgia, it only threw around a 5 and didn’t travel. When put on the melter it sadly didn’t perform any better.
Tomato Vine (3-wick) This was another nostalgia candle for me and I surprisingly love fresh garden scents like this. It smelled of garden greens and fresh tomatoes still on the vine! It threw around a 6 but was only detectable within the same room it was burning in. Unfortunately this was another candle that barely gave off any fragrance when put on the melter.
Sea Grass (3-wick) I am SO happy BBW brought back their Snap Peas scent and renamed it! It’s such a beautiful blend of fresh but sweet greens with a clean base note. This threw around an 8 but didn’t travel very far. I have a few more back-ups that I will definitely cherish.
Autumn Sunshine (1-wick) To be honest, I don’t even bother burning these little guys anymore and just put them straight on the melter. This smelled like a slightly citrus woodsy fragrance – it really was more of a cologne scent for me. I definitely enjoyed it though within my small bathroom!
Olive Oil & Thyme (1-wick, DNF)  This was a really unique scent that I was excited to try out. Unfortunately, like most Yankee’s this barely threw, if at all. It also burned very odd making the wax looked like brains which kind of grossed me out. I ended up donating it to my BFF who I hope will enjoy it more than me!

July 2017 Wax Empties

Bonfire Beach – For anyone who tried BBW’s Summer Bonfire candle a couple years back and misses it, this wax melt from Scentsy is almost an exact dupe! It essentially smells like marshmallow fireside with sea salt air and citrus mixed in. It’s beyond lovely and I always want to have more bars stocked up at all times!
Watermelon Buttercream (DNF) On cold, this smelled like watermelon chapstick which didn’t impress me. However, when melting it transformed into a delicious watermelon frosting that fragranced the entire house. Unforutnatley there was a black residue within this formula ruining my melting dishes so I didn’t even use the last 2 cubes.
Suntan – This scent smells like a blend of citrus and coconut that is a dupe for legitimate sunscreen that you’d use at the beach. It was pretty strong but I’m not crazy about my entire house smelling like this (even though it brings back memories).
Cane Sugar Root Beer (DNF) I had high hopes for this melt but the issue was it smelled like root beer. I never thought I’d have an issue with this scent until my bedroom smelled like a mix of medicine and soda. I tried remedying it with a combination of that and Vanilla Cookie Crunch, but then it just smelled burnt. Definitely would not recommend or every repurchase anything from this company again.
Blue Raspberry Ice – A true to life popsicle scent that is perfect for the middle of summer! As great of a scent as it is, this Scentsy bar lasted less than 1 day each time which was disappointing.
Salted Pistachio Sorbet – This was a beautiful creamy pistachio fragrance! Originally I thought the saltiness would make this a great summer fragrance but I think this might be better suited for the Winter months.
Pistachio Ice Cream – Another creamy pistachio fragrance that smelled exactly like Better Homes & Gardens version when melting. I really did enjoy this too but it just didn’t seem to be the right season for it.
Basil (x2) – A true to life basil scent that smells just like it’s title. This was nice melting it alongside the garden themed candles but had to be mixed with Fresh Baked Bread to lessen the sharp herbal note. Unfortunately, Kringle seemed to have retired this fragrance.
Fresh Baked Bread – This is an amazing buttery bread scent but is odd to smell all by itself in your home. Like I previously mentioned, I mixed this with Basil and got a really nice herbal bread fragrance but I’m not sure I’ll pick it up again.

July 2017 Fragrance Empties

Boardwalk Vanilla Cone (hand soap) My absolute favorite soap for the summer! It truly smells like vanilla ice cream packed inside a waffle cone (trust me, I worked in an ice cream shop for 4 years). This year’s version unfortunately was not as strong as years past and didn’t linger at all.
Watermelon Lemonade (hand soap) We all know what this basic scent that BBW brings back in every form smells like. While this fragrance doesn’t really impress me anymore the soaps scent did linger for a little while which I appreciated.
Pumpkin Berry Crumble (hand soap) This may have been my favorite soap of the month! If you smelled BBW’s recent Berry Waffle Cone candle, this smells almost just like it. There’s no pumpkin in here (naturally) but it is a wonderful berry bakery scent that lingered for a long time after using.
Watermelon Lemonade (body cream) I’m shocked that BBW named this Watermelon Lemonade because it does not smell like their traditional WL scent. It’s definitely more of a candied lemon with little to no watermelon. It was a decent body cream but I wouldn’t stock up or repurchase.
Pomegranate Lemonade (wallflower) A sweet yet tart fragrance that was surprisingly stronger than last month’s wallflower, but not by much. I’m happy to have gone through what I have of this fragrance in my collection and wouldn’t repurchase.
Champagne Toast (wallflower) This sweet citrus scent was strong when first plugged in but quickly faded out within a couple days. For such an amazing scent this was such a letdown and I just hope my other backups perform better.
Funnel Cake (wallflower) One of the strongest wallflowers I’ve had in a while! In some areas of my home it smelled funky which was odd and I had to play around with positions. Once I found the “right spot” it threw like a champ until the very last drop of oil.

While I focused on fresher garden fragrances this past July, I did also manage to fit in some sweet scents as well! My favorite candle of the month was definitely Salted Oak Bonfire and my favorite wax melt was Bonfire Beach. If I could only burn those 2 fragrances each summer I absolutely would! It truly was a great month of melting but I’m beyond excited for what I’m planning to melt in August!

May always tends to be a slow burning month in my home due to spring allergies. Combine that with still trying to get settled in the new house plus being busy every weekend and you get the slowest month of melting in well over a year. This past May I burned through only ONE candle and 4 wax melts.

May 2017 Candle Empties - Melting with Michelle

Berry Vanilla Bean (3-wick) – This candle smelled like a mixed berry buttercream frosting. It was a really nice spring fragrance but I hoped a bakery note would come through while burning. It threw really well in our new space and had a strength around a 7. It burned flawlessly and I recommend seeking it out during SAS if this is a type of scent you’re interested in.

May 2017 Wax Empties - Melting with Michelle

Blueberry Muffin – This truly smelled like a fresh baked muffin with a slight blueberry undertone and I really enjoyed it in melt form. I would absolutely repurchase if the price was right; Kringle’s melt prices are a bit steep for such a small amount of wax.
Blueberry Cake Donut – On cold this was an amazing blueberry icing fragrance with a donut bakery base. However, I think this melt was a bit too old because it smelled like a sweet crayon when melting. Probably wouldn’t bother repurchasing.
Strawberry Swirl – A really sweet strawberry milkshake fragrance from Scentsy that I wish I could still get my hands on! By itself it was too light but was totally amped up when mixed with Vanilla Cookie Crunch. A blend I wish I could melt for much longer!
Wild Berry Cheesecake – In the past I’ve described this as the best berry scent every created and I still stand by that. I honestly don’t need any other mixed berry scents for the future aside from this one, that’s how good it is. Go to your local Wal-mart and sniff it out for yourself!

May 2017 Fragrance Empties - Melting with Michelle

Berry Vanilla Bean (wallflower) – The wallflower version of the scent was even heavier than the candle and I didn’t care for it much. After a few weeks it became really discolored so I just took it out before all the oil evaporated.
Lemon Mint Leaf (wallflower) – This fragrance was so light that I hardly smelled it at all. Once the oils became discolored it started emitting an awful rotten scent. I wouldn’t repurchase this again in any form factor and will probably use anything left in my stash as decor.
Golden Autumn Day (hand cream) – Being the second hand cream in this scent that I’ve finished up within the past six months, I think it’s safe to say I adore the scent and formula. It’s very refreshing with apple undertones and is long-lasting. Hoping they’ll bring this back again in the fall!
Sweet Lemon Buttercream (body cream) – A really soft & creamy lemon fragrance perfect for the spring! I’m already stocked up and highly suggest picking some up during SAS!
Lemon Buttercream (hand soap) – Like the last soap in this fragrance that I used in March, it had hardly any lemon notes and was very astringent. Happy not to have anymore left in my stash and will be very weary of lemon soaps in the future!
Cotton Blossom (hand soap) – This was a repackage of Sea Island Cotton which is my favorite hand soap. It’s fresh, clean, and the scent lingers. Hands down will always repurchase this fragrance no matter what it is called!

May was definitely a slow burning month and I have a feeling June will be very similar. I’m still trying to find the optimum place to burn candles for maximum throw and honestly don’t have a burn list planned. What scents do you think I should melt next month to get out of this slump? Share in the comments!

I’ve never been a big fan of vendor wax, mainly because the first and only company I purchased from didn’t impress me. However, when I was watching a Super Tarts haul on Youtube I was pretty intrigued. The different fandom collections really caught my eye; let’s be real, anything Harry Potter will catch my eye. I started browsing through their site and eventually decided to just place an order. I ended up hauling 4 Harry Potter and 2 random wax melts.

First Ever Super Tarts Haul - Harry Potter Collection

Butterbeer “Sweet butterscotch topped with a dollop of sweet cream”
This straight up smells like a creamy butterscotch candy. I’ve never actually had a legitimate butterbeer so I can’t vouch how realistic this wax is. I can tell you that we’ll definitively be melting this when we’re having Harry Potter movie marathons!

Gryffindor – “Frosted lemon meringue cheesecake with raspberry glaze”
I’m not even a Gryffindor, but this scent sounded delicious. I was unfortunately let down upon smelling it because it just smells like lemons with the slightest hint of raspberry and barely any bakery. I’m crossing my fingers this develops more when warm!

Hedwig – “Chai tea, creamy cheesecake, and clove”
Within the past year I discovered my love for chai tea, so this scent naturally appealed to me. However, it really just smells overwhelmingly of clove with possibly undertones of chai. It really reminds me of a craft store which is unfortunate and I’m praying the cheesecake note will come out when warm.

Umbridge – “Tea & cakes, sugar dusted roses, and cotton candy”
From the sounds of the description I was hoping for a Pink Petal Tea Cake dupe. This really just smells like a rose tea though without any sweet bakery notes. If you’ve ever drank the Get Gorgeous tea before, this is an exact dupe for it! I’m sure it’ll be enjoyable but not what I was looking for.

First Ever Super Tarts Haul

Banner – “Warm buttery cornbread topped with creamy mac apple ice cream and brown sugar”
This is a hands down dupe for BBW Summer Boardwalk! I adore that fragrance but I’m already pretty stocked up on it and don’t need another melt in it. I was really hoping for more of the cornbread note.

Corpsman – “Graham crackers, pie crust, and creamy zucchini bread”
We are saving the best for last here. Above everything you get that graham cracker note and then the buttery crust. I’m not exactly sure if I smell any ZB on cold but I’m hoping to be able to distinguish that when warming; I can only imagine it’ll make this fragrance better!

While I wasn’t overwhelmed by the actual fragrances, I won’t pass full judgement until I’ve melted them. Overall, the company had a fairly quick delivery speed and included a free sample in my bundle too. I do enjoy the design elements that appear on the wax – you can really tell how much time goes into making them. I probably will end up doing another haul once the Harry scent is back in stock and plan on stocking up on my favorite Corpsman fragrance!

Last month I stayed away from sweeter scents, but in February I’m ready to dive back into all the delicious gourmand fragrances. I think it’s the heart shaped boxes filled with chocolate that get me back in the mood for sweets. This month I’m continuing to keep my burn list fairly reasonable since we have yet to move and it could happen anytime now.

CANDLES

• Peanut Butter Cookie“Crushed peanuts, buttercream, cocoa, and vanilla”
• Macaron Treats – “The classic Parisian macaron – sweet as can be and lighter than air, with notes of vanilla, almond and, of course, sugar”
• Chocolate Pistachio“Pistachio, chocolate truffle, and white powdered sugar”
• Christmas Cakes“Celebrate the season with a delicious blend of sugar, candy floss, marshmallow, butter and lemon while a background of brown sugar, vanilla bean and tonka leaves mouths watering.”
• Cinnamon Sugared DoughnutFreshly-baked vanilla cake doughnut covered in sugar crystals and crushed cinnamon.”

WAX MELTS

• Eskimo Kiss“Blackberry jam, caramelized brown sugar, vanilla, and amber in a softly romantic scent.”
• Merry Berry Linzer“Jammy raspberry filling nestled in almond shortbread with a vanilla glaze.”
• Sparkling Cream Soda“An old fashioned soda shop classic having all the bubbly notes frothing over the glass with the truly characteristic, caramelized sugar and vanilla cream aroma.”
• Sugared Cinnamon Donut – “A mouthwatering mix of cinnamon sugar, vanilla bean, and raw sugarcane poured over a warm homemade donut for an ultimate, fresh baked scent.”

I have no doubt that I’ll be able to get through this list – I actually might need to pace myself. I really want to burn the chocolate scents around Valentine’s Day and the donut ones at the end of the month. If I do get through everything quicker than expected I’ll probably start burning Hot Cocoa & Cream, Mocha Latte Swirl, and Peanut Butter Sugar. Nevertheless this is definitely going to be a sickeningly sweet month and not because of the holiday! 😉

While November was a slower burning month, I certainly made up for it in December! I unfortunately was home sick for half of the month giving me much more time burn candles! (Priorities, right?) At this point I’m traveling for the remainder of the year and won’t be melting much of anything else. I tried to stay with a festive theme throughout December and ended up burning 12 candles and 12 wax melts!

December 2016 Candle Empties

Marshmallow Fireside (3-wick & 1-wick) – I always kick off December with this classic scent. It’s both sweet and smoky creating a cozy atmosphere perfect for this time of year. If I didn’t have so many other candles to go through I would probably just burn this all month long. The 3-wick performed great until the last third and the 1-wick’s barely threw at all.
Cozy Cabin (1-wick) – This is Kringle’s version of MF but the smoky note is more detectable than the sweet. It would’ve been enjoyable if I could even smell it burning. It had a throw of about 2 when I was standing over it. Yet another disappointment from that company.
Peppermint Marshmallow (3-wick) – I think this is my favorite peppermint scent to burn during this season. Have you ever had a thin peppermint cocoa crisp cookie? That’s the best way to describe this, it smells like a crisp you’ve just broken in half. The marshmallow note in the name is more of sweet cocoa rather than true marshmallow. Either way it’s a delicious fragrance with decent throw!
Red Velvet Cupcake (3-wick) – Another favorite fragrance to burn during the month, especially while baking Christmas cookies! It’s a rich chocolate fragrance that throws around a 8. While amazing it can become overpowering fairly quick.
Winter Mint & Spruce (3-wick) – This was a spur of the moment purchase during the 8.50 candle sale. If there wasn’t that woodsy spruce bottom note, it would’ve probably smelled like toothpaste. I burned this in the mornings and while cleaning. It threw around an 8 and had a gorgeous wax color. While I enjoyed it I probably wouldn’t repurchase.
Peppermint Cocoa (1-wick) – I was absolutley obsessed with this Kringle fragrance on cold – it smelled like an Andes thin mint chocolate. However, when burning the peppermint and cocoa notes didn’t mix well together. OF COURSE this was the one candle from the company that threw around a 5.
Winter Night (1-wick) – This is a throwback fragrance from at least 3 years ago that I needed to de-stash. It didn’t have a great throw (possibly because it’s old) and smells almost identical to Winter. There is the slightest hint of smokiness thrown in and possibly another woodsy note. I’m not really surprised this hasn’t made a comeback.
Hot Cocoa & Cream (3-wick) – The infamous new scent of the season! It smells exactly hot cocoa mix on cold but freshly baked brownies out of the oven when burning. It throws around an 8 and burned great. I really enjoy it and have already stocked up – this is really the only true chocolate candle I have in my collection!
Smoked Vanilla (3-wick) – This is really a unique fragrance! At first you might think it’s just a repackage of MF but there is definitely much more smokiness. The smokiness also has an underlying note of bacon which is not a bad thing. Any vanilla in this candle is at the bottom and very subtle. It’s an absolutely wonderful fragrance to burn on winter morning’s and throws around a 7.
Winter (3-wick) – Another BBW classic! This is the only true outdoorsy fragrance I burn throughout the season and always light it up closer to Christmas. It truly smells like going outside during a fresh snowfall – it even makes my nose feel a bit cold! It throws around a 9 and will forever be a repurchase.
Merry Mint (DNF 1-wick) – On cold, this was the perfect creamy mint chocolate scent. Too bad it had absolutely 0 throw the handful of times I burned it and then smelling it on cold just smelled like burnt wax. I did not finish this terrible candle and am donating it to goodwill. Crossing my fingers that the other pure radiance candles do better than this one!

December 2016 Wax Empties

Santa’s Cookie Crumble – One of my last fragrance from Crossroads and it wasn’t too bad. It smelled almost exactly like BBW Cinnamon Sugared Donut without the greasiness. It’s not exactly what I associate with holiday cookies but enjoyable nonetheless.
Campfire Marshmallow – Goose Creek’s version of MF with a hint of toastiness. Enjoyable and would potentially repurchase closer to the holiday season next year.
Cozy Cabin – This smelled exactly like the candle already described but I could actually smell this while it lasted. Kringle’s melts don’t tend to last longer than 6-8 hours and are only worth it on a good deal.
Peppermint Cocoa – Again, this smelled exactly like the candle and wasn’t enjoyable due to the astringent fragrance when warm. I melted the 2 that I had on hand to get rid of them.
Milk & Cookies – Now this was a nice surprise from Yankee! It’s very comparable to CSD but with much more creaminess. It really was delicious and I went through the 3 tarts I had in stock. If they ever release this in candle form again I’ll probably pick it up.
Candy Cane Lane – Another peppermint fragrance I adore on cold but wasn’t the biggest fan of while melting. This is just straight up peppermint and I think you really need to be in the mood for it. I still have a full large jar in my collection and have a feeling it will take a while to burn through in the coming years.
First Snow – This is Kringle’s version of Winter but with a hint more citrus and was quite nice. Not the strongest wax melt and I’ll probably just stick to the classic BBW scent going forward.
Eggnog – Scentsy nailed this fragrance, it smells EXACTLY like eggnog. However, it only smells like this for 2-3 hours and they just smells like candy before it doesn’t have any oils left at all. Even though this is the biggest let down burn-wise from Scentsy, it’s still wonderful while it lasts.
Rum Raisin Cookie – Another fragrance that Scentsy nailed. It truly smells like a freshly baked raisin cookie with an undertone of rum extract. It’s delicious and perfect for the holiday season! I highly recommend giving it a try when you’re placing your next order!

December 2016 Fragrance Empties

Cookies for Santa (soap) – This was a very sweet & sugary fragrance but didn’t smell like any cookies I’ve ever baked or had. It was nice but nothing to go crazy for.
Marshmallow Fireside (wallflower) – I was only able to get whiffs of this throughout the month which was disappointing since it’s an all-time favorite fragrance of mine. I’ll continue to try the scent in this form every year though.
Hot Cocoa & Cream (wallflower) – This had the same effect while warming and smelled like freshly baked brownies. It’s an odd fragrance to have as a wallflower but luckily it didn’t throw much after the first week.

I really enjoyed the sweet scents filling my home throughout December and I really can’t choose a favorite! I’ll be narrowing down my favorites of the entire year later this week in my 2016 recap, but in the meantime tell me what you burned through this month in the comments below!

November was a tough month for me; a lot of obstacles were thrown my way all the while I was constantly on the go. I’m one of those people that needs their relaxing alone time and I didn’t get much of that this month. It was definitely a slower burning month but I did get through 6 candles and 6 wax melts!

November 2016 Candle Empties

Smoked Caramel (1-wick) – The name of this candle describes this fragrance best – you get an equally strong caramel and smoky scent. It’s a really interesting combination from Target that’s perfect for the Fall. However, this only threw around a 2 even when put on the melter and wouldn’t pool out even when tin foiled. If it had a better performance I definitely would’ve picked up another.
Sweater Weather (1-wick) – Can you believe I’ve NEVER burned this scent before?! I don’t know why I waited so long to experience this candle. On cold it has more of a cologne note but when melting a background apple comes out. Next Fall I’ll definitely be picking up my first 3-wick!
Autumn Leaves (1-wick) – Wow, this was the strongest Yankee Candle I’ve ever burned. Within minutes of lighting this it filled my entire open concept living room. Aside from the great burn, the scent was a fresh Fall fragrance with undertones of apple and cinnamon. Absolutely amazing and I will repurchase again next year!
Cranberry Chutney (1-wick) – This is a nice sweet cranberry scent but only threw around a 3 in my small kitchen. It was nice but way too light (especially for the amount of oils that were visible) for me to ever repurchase.
Autumn Air (1-wick) – I’m still struggling to determine if this is a dupe for BBW’s Marshmallow Fireside or Radiant Red Maple. It definitely leans more towards MF but has a slight apple undertone. Yet this was another Yankee that didn’t throw well. I probably won’t waste my money again and will just stick to the BBW classics.
Chestnut & Clove (3-wick) – This is an absolutely amazing transition fragrance from Fall to Winter. It has a top note of clove, mid-note of chestnuts, and an undertone of vanilla. I usually burn this the week leading up to Thanksgiving and it didn’t disappoint this year. My only issue was that the wicks were off center making it difficult to pool out. Either way this is a hoard worthy one for me!

November 2016 Wax Empties

Brandied Pumpkin – This was a very nice pumpkin fragrance but didn’t have much of a brandy note. I enjoyed it while it lasted but wouldn’t repurchase, like most Kringle products.
Autumn Winds – I think this is pretty comparable to BBW Ski Lodge if not an exact dupe. It was a great bedroom scent but again I wouldn’t repurchase.
Perfect Pumpkin Ale – I enjoyed this much more than I expected to! It definitely had pumpkin (which is always a nice surprise) and you could really smell that ale note. If this comes out again next year I’ll definitely pick it up again – I’m trying to downsize my collection a bit before stocking up on more.
Caramel Pumpkin Seeds – This was a beautiful caramel pumpkin combination on cold sniff but it didn’t translate the same when warm. I didn’t enjoy it as much as I was hoping to and would hold off on buying again.
Cranberry Cookie Crumble – This was my favorite wax melt of the month and I went through 2 clam shells! There is a tart cranberry top note mixed with a sweet cookie fragrance. It really is wonderful and I have already bought back ups!

November 2016 Fragrance Empties

Pumpkin Pecan Waffles (wallflower) – Oh my gosh, I think this was my favorite form of this fragrance yet. You don’t get as much “cereal” scent like from the candle making it a delicious sweet fragrance. I hope they release this again next year!
Chestnut & Clove (wallflower) – In wallflower form, the vanilla comes out so much more than the candle. I still enjoy it just as much but it does tend to start having a Marshmallow Fireside feel to it. I wish this was released in this form again because I don’t have anymore in my collection!
Pumpkin Cranberry Cider (hand sanitizer) – Like most BBW products, there is no pumpkin in this. It does have a strong tart cranberry scent and an undertone of cider. It was nice but not my favorite.
Pumpkin Pecan Waffles (soap) – Last year I was dying to get my hands on this soap after using it at my mom’s house. However it did not smell like PPW at all – I wouldn’t be surprised if the wrong label was thrown onto this bottle.
Marshmallow Mittens (hand sanitizer) – This is essentially Marshmallow Fireside in sanitizer form and I’m so sad that they didn’t come out with this again!

While it was a slower month for melting I had some pleasant surprises like Autumn Leaves from Yankee Candle and Cranberry Cookie Crumble from Better Homes and Garden. I’m excited for some sweeter scents to get in the holiday spirit in December, I think my first pick will be Marshmallow Fireside – it’s usually the candle I melt while I decorate my Christmas tree!

September has come and gone in the blink of an eye it seems. Maybe it feels that way because I was extremely busy all month, which is also why I haven’t been posting much here or on Instagram. Either way, I still managed to burn 10 candles and 12 wax melts!

September 2016 Candle Empties

Leaves (3-wick) – Leaves is an essential Fall scent for me and every September 1st I light it up. I burned through two candles of it early this month and it did not disappoint. There were no issues with the burn and it threw at about an 8. Wonderful and a forever repurchase!
Cider Lane (3-wick & 1-wick) – I am SO happy BBW brought this back again, Cider Lane was the scent that started my candle obsession back in 2012. An incredibly delicious blend of apple & caramel. It threw about a 7 then unfortunately got puny wicks half-way through, but still nonetheless hoard-worthy!
Apple Cider Donut (1-wick) – This is a gorgeous bakery scent from Kringle that I couldn’t wait to burn. Too bad the throw was only a 1 – and that’s being generous! I had to tinfoil it as well to get it to pool out. Overall an unfortunate disappointment and I won’t be buying anymore candles from this company.
Radiant Red Maple (3-wick) – I am so sad to have burned through this backup from last year since it did not return. An amazing blend of marshmallow and apple that I seriously can’t get enough of. I finished this on the melter to get every last drop of fragrance oil out of there. BBW – PLEASE return Radiant Red Maple for 2017!
Pumpkin French Toast (3-wick) – On cold this smells like Pumpkin Spiced Cheesecake with more maple and it didn’t transform much while burning. I liked it enough to burn it until the puny wicks kicked in, but I didn’t bother even putting it on my melter because I wasn’t a fan. One and done for me!
Pumpkin Caramel Latte (3-wick) – This version of Pumpkin Caramel Latte is from 2012 and the fragrance is very sentimental to me. But that’s not the reason I hadn’t burned it yet, in the past 4 years I could only light it for 30 minutes before having an allergic reaction – no doubt it threw at a 10. However, this year there was absolutely no throw and it didn’t bother me at all. I pretty much gave up on it and said my goodbyes. If BBW ever brings this back again I might get a wallflower and that’s it.
Warm Apple Pie (1-wick) – I didn’t even try burning this candle since I’ve heard such horrible reviews. I did put it directly on my melter though which usually gives these little guys a pretty high throw. Not this scent, it was throwing at possibly a 1 or 2. Won’t repurchase.

September 2016 Wax Melt Empties

Apple Pie (wax melt) – Delicious scent on cold, couldn’t smell a thing melting. With so many other bakery apple scents out there I’ll pass on this Kringle going forward.
Apple Cider Donut (wax melt) – I was luckily able to get some fragrance out of this wax melt compared to the candle. It was still just too light for me though and I quickly melted through the 3 I had.
Apple Bobbin (wax melt) – This is a very nice, crisp apple scent with a hint of caramel mixed in. I enjoyed it, especially since it played off of all the candles I was melting very nicely. Nothing to go crazy over repurchasing though.
Warm Apple Pie (wax melt) – This Scentsations fragrance really surprised me – it was 75% bakery bread and 25% apple. I really liked the ratio and found that it would be nice to melt this throughout the entire year since it mainly smells like bread baking. Absolutely hoard-worhty.
Cider House Donuts (wax melt) – This is an exact dupe for Kringle’s Apple Cider Donut fragrance, except this actually throws! It smells like a cinnamon sugared donut with some apple cider spices mixed in. It’s delicious and I recommend you try to pick this up if it hasn’t already sold-out.
Caramel Applewood (wax melt) – This is 100% an exact dupe for BBW Cider Lane. I melted this at the same time I burned the candle and there’s literally no difference. Get your hands on this and stock up.
Apple Butter Frosting (wax melt) – I was really excited to try this fragrance from Scentsy but was ultimately let down. I LOVED how this smelled on cold but when it was warming the fragrance was just overpowered by cinnamon and not really balanced or enjoyable. I’m not sure if I got a bad batch or what but I’ll pass in the future.
Apple S’mores (wax melt) – Last but certainly not least, this is Scenty’s dupe for Radiant Red Maple. Thank the candle gods I’ll still be able to have this fragrance in my life. It’s definitely in my top 5 of all-time. I’m already stocked up but I may purchase more in January during the 10% off sale!

September 2016 Candle Empties

Leaves (wallflower) – This wasn’t as strong as I’d hoped it would be, I only got whiffs here and there throughout the month. The oils completely evaporated though which was surprising.
Lakeside Sunrise (wallflower) – This is a light fragrance to begin with and I could only smell it if I to a whiff of the wallflower plug itself. It’s also Brian’s favorite scent and he didn’t even notice I’d plugged it in.
Golden Autumn Day (hand soap) – I really enjoyed this! If you know what BBW’s Winter smells like, this smells like a mix of that and crisp apples.
Beach Nights (body wash) – Summer Marshmallow was the hit fragrance from BBW this past Summer. I loved using this body wash but the scent didn’t linger much at all. I prefer the body cream from this line anyway!
Boardwalk Vanilla Cone (hand sanitizer) – O M G, I wish I could smell like this all the time. It’s just absolutely divine. I’m thanking my past self for stocking up on these before the summer ended. If this fragrance comes back during SAS I’ll be hoarding it.

September is clearly the month dedicated to apple fragrances for me! I look forward to them all year long and am so happy to have been able to enjoy so many wonderful scents. It’s too difficult to pick a favorite fragrance for the month but I was definitely most surprised by Scentsationals Warm Apple Pie.  I hope you had a great September, now let’s move on to our favorite pumpkin fragrances!
