Happy July everyone! I’m so happy to finally be settled enough to start creating monthly burn lists again. This month I’m going to be focusing on both fresh garden fragrances and salty beach scents. Both of these scent profiles are the epitome of summer to me and I just can’t get enough of them during this time of year.

CANDLES

• Salted Oak Bonfire – “Wave-Washed Oak, Glowing Embers, Sea Spray”
• Watermelon Lemonade – “Watermelon Ice, Sparkling Water, Meyer Lemon”
• Sea Grass – “Sweet Island Sugarcane, Rustling Sea Grass, Sparkling Clear Water”
• Tomato Vine – “Sun-Kissed Tomato Leaves, Fresh Spring Greens, Hint of Lemon”
• Autumn Sunshine – “Chilled Orange, California Mandarin, Golden Amber, Green Fir Needle”

WAX MELTS

• Bonfire Beach – “Toasted marshmallow smoldering over white flint and sandalwood harmonize with salty sea air and ocean spray”
Cane Sugar Root Beer – “Aromatic root beer cascades over lavish scoops of French vanilla ice cream as its gossamery foam overflows your glass”
• Blue Raspberry Ice – “Sweet cherry, icy white lemon, and blue raspberry”
• Watermelon Buttercream – A sweet blend of juicy watermelon and rich buttercream frosting
• Suntan – “Orange Blossoms, Bright Citrus, Soft Coconut Husk”
• Fresh Baked Bread – “The perfect blend of homey, delicate sweetness and yeasty earthiness that only oven-hot, crusty loaves can offer.”
• Basil – Fresh cut basil straight from the garden

At our new place we don’t have a lawn yet let alone a garden, so it’ll be really nice to get some of those fresh fragrances into our lives that we’re currently lacking. Depending on how quickly I burn through my other candles, I may bust out Sunlit Garden and Olive Oil & Thyme as well. I’ll probably take out Tailgating for the Fourth of July and possibly finish off the month with some sweet pistachio ice cream fragrances too. Seeing how small my past several empties have been I didn’t want to overwhelm myself this month and only dedicate myself to the above list.

What are you planning on burning this month? Share in the comments!

May always tends to be a slow burning month in my home due to spring allergies. Combine that with still trying to get settled in the new house plus being busy every weekend and you get the slowest month of melting in well over a year. This past May I burned through only ONE candle and 4 wax melts.

May 2017 Candle Empties - Melting with Michelle

Berry Vanilla Bean (3-wick) – This candle smelled like a mixed berry buttercream frosting. It was a really nice spring fragrance but I hoped a bakery note would come through while burning. It threw really well in our new space and had a strength around a 7. It burned flawlessly and I recommend seeking it out during SAS if this is a type of scent you’re interested in.

May 2017 Wax Empties - Melting with Michelle

Blueberry Muffin – This truly smelled like a fresh baked muffin with a slight blueberry undertone and I really enjoyed it in melt form. I would absolutely repurchase if the price was right; Kringle’s melt prices are a bit steep for such a small amount of wax.
Blueberry Cake Donut – On cold this was an amazing blueberry icing fragrance with a donut bakery base. However, I think this melt was a bit too old because it smelled like a sweet crayon when melting. Probably wouldn’t bother repurchasing.
Strawberry Swirl – A really sweet strawberry milkshake fragrance from Scentsy that I wish I could still get my hands on! By itself it was too light but was totally amped up when mixed with Vanilla Cookie Crunch. A blend I wish I could melt for much longer!
Wild Berry Cheesecake – In the past I’ve described this as the best berry scent every created and I still stand by that. I honestly don’t need any other mixed berry scents for the future aside from this one, that’s how good it is. Go to your local Wal-mart and sniff it out for yourself!

May 2017 Fragrance Empties - Melting with Michelle

Berry Vanilla Bean (wallflower) – The wallflower version of the scent was even heavier than the candle and I didn’t care for it much. After a few weeks it became really discolored so I just took it out before all the oil evaporated.
Lemon Mint Leaf (wallflower) – This fragrance was so light that I hardly smelled it at all. Once the oils became discolored it started emitting an awful rotten scent. I wouldn’t repurchase this again in any form factor and will probably use anything left in my stash as decor.
Golden Autumn Day (hand cream) – Being the second hand cream in this scent that I’ve finished up within the past six months, I think it’s safe to say I adore the scent and formula. It’s very refreshing with apple undertones and is long-lasting. Hoping they’ll bring this back again in the fall!
Sweet Lemon Buttercream (body cream) – A really soft & creamy lemon fragrance perfect for the spring! I’m already stocked up and highly suggest picking some up during SAS!
Lemon Buttercream (hand soap) – Like the last soap in this fragrance that I used in March, it had hardly any lemon notes and was very astringent. Happy not to have anymore left in my stash and will be very weary of lemon soaps in the future!
Cotton Blossom (hand soap) – This was a repackage of Sea Island Cotton which is my favorite hand soap. It’s fresh, clean, and the scent lingers. Hands down will always repurchase this fragrance no matter what it is called!

May was definitely a slow burning month and I have a feeling June will be very similar. I’m still trying to find the optimum place to burn candles for maximum throw and honestly don’t have a burn list planned. What scents do you think I should melt next month to get out of this slump? Share in the comments!

While November was a slower burning month, I certainly made up for it in December! I unfortunately was home sick for half of the month giving me much more time burn candles! (Priorities, right?) At this point I’m traveling for the remainder of the year and won’t be melting much of anything else. I tried to stay with a festive theme throughout December and ended up burning 12 candles and 12 wax melts!

December 2016 Candle Empties

Marshmallow Fireside (3-wick & 1-wick) – I always kick off December with this classic scent. It’s both sweet and smoky creating a cozy atmosphere perfect for this time of year. If I didn’t have so many other candles to go through I would probably just burn this all month long. The 3-wick performed great until the last third and the 1-wick’s barely threw at all.
Cozy Cabin (1-wick) – This is Kringle’s version of MF but the smoky note is more detectable than the sweet. It would’ve been enjoyable if I could even smell it burning. It had a throw of about 2 when I was standing over it. Yet another disappointment from that company.
Peppermint Marshmallow (3-wick) – I think this is my favorite peppermint scent to burn during this season. Have you ever had a thin peppermint cocoa crisp cookie? That’s the best way to describe this, it smells like a crisp you’ve just broken in half. The marshmallow note in the name is more of sweet cocoa rather than true marshmallow. Either way it’s a delicious fragrance with decent throw!
Red Velvet Cupcake (3-wick) – Another favorite fragrance to burn during the month, especially while baking Christmas cookies! It’s a rich chocolate fragrance that throws around a 8. While amazing it can become overpowering fairly quick.
Winter Mint & Spruce (3-wick) – This was a spur of the moment purchase during the 8.50 candle sale. If there wasn’t that woodsy spruce bottom note, it would’ve probably smelled like toothpaste. I burned this in the mornings and while cleaning. It threw around an 8 and had a gorgeous wax color. While I enjoyed it I probably wouldn’t repurchase.
Peppermint Cocoa (1-wick) – I was absolutley obsessed with this Kringle fragrance on cold – it smelled like an Andes thin mint chocolate. However, when burning the peppermint and cocoa notes didn’t mix well together. OF COURSE this was the one candle from the company that threw around a 5.
Winter Night (1-wick) – This is a throwback fragrance from at least 3 years ago that I needed to de-stash. It didn’t have a great throw (possibly because it’s old) and smells almost identical to Winter. There is the slightest hint of smokiness thrown in and possibly another woodsy note. I’m not really surprised this hasn’t made a comeback.
Hot Cocoa & Cream (3-wick) – The infamous new scent of the season! It smells exactly hot cocoa mix on cold but freshly baked brownies out of the oven when burning. It throws around an 8 and burned great. I really enjoy it and have already stocked up – this is really the only true chocolate candle I have in my collection!
Smoked Vanilla (3-wick) – This is really a unique fragrance! At first you might think it’s just a repackage of MF but there is definitely much more smokiness. The smokiness also has an underlying note of bacon which is not a bad thing. Any vanilla in this candle is at the bottom and very subtle. It’s an absolutely wonderful fragrance to burn on winter morning’s and throws around a 7.
Winter (3-wick) – Another BBW classic! This is the only true outdoorsy fragrance I burn throughout the season and always light it up closer to Christmas. It truly smells like going outside during a fresh snowfall – it even makes my nose feel a bit cold! It throws around a 9 and will forever be a repurchase.
Merry Mint (DNF 1-wick) – On cold, this was the perfect creamy mint chocolate scent. Too bad it had absolutely 0 throw the handful of times I burned it and then smelling it on cold just smelled like burnt wax. I did not finish this terrible candle and am donating it to goodwill. Crossing my fingers that the other pure radiance candles do better than this one!

December 2016 Wax Empties

Santa’s Cookie Crumble – One of my last fragrance from Crossroads and it wasn’t too bad. It smelled almost exactly like BBW Cinnamon Sugared Donut without the greasiness. It’s not exactly what I associate with holiday cookies but enjoyable nonetheless.
Campfire Marshmallow – Goose Creek’s version of MF with a hint of toastiness. Enjoyable and would potentially repurchase closer to the holiday season next year.
Cozy Cabin – This smelled exactly like the candle already described but I could actually smell this while it lasted. Kringle’s melts don’t tend to last longer than 6-8 hours and are only worth it on a good deal.
Peppermint Cocoa – Again, this smelled exactly like the candle and wasn’t enjoyable due to the astringent fragrance when warm. I melted the 2 that I had on hand to get rid of them.
Milk & Cookies – Now this was a nice surprise from Yankee! It’s very comparable to CSD but with much more creaminess. It really was delicious and I went through the 3 tarts I had in stock. If they ever release this in candle form again I’ll probably pick it up.
Candy Cane Lane – Another peppermint fragrance I adore on cold but wasn’t the biggest fan of while melting. This is just straight up peppermint and I think you really need to be in the mood for it. I still have a full large jar in my collection and have a feeling it will take a while to burn through in the coming years.
First Snow – This is Kringle’s version of Winter but with a hint more citrus and was quite nice. Not the strongest wax melt and I’ll probably just stick to the classic BBW scent going forward.
Eggnog – Scentsy nailed this fragrance, it smells EXACTLY like eggnog. However, it only smells like this for 2-3 hours and they just smells like candy before it doesn’t have any oils left at all. Even though this is the biggest let down burn-wise from Scentsy, it’s still wonderful while it lasts.
Rum Raisin Cookie – Another fragrance that Scentsy nailed. It truly smells like a freshly baked raisin cookie with an undertone of rum extract. It’s delicious and perfect for the holiday season! I highly recommend giving it a try when you’re placing your next order!

December 2016 Fragrance Empties

Cookies for Santa (soap) – This was a very sweet & sugary fragrance but didn’t smell like any cookies I’ve ever baked or had. It was nice but nothing to go crazy for.
Marshmallow Fireside (wallflower) – I was only able to get whiffs of this throughout the month which was disappointing since it’s an all-time favorite fragrance of mine. I’ll continue to try the scent in this form every year though.
Hot Cocoa & Cream (wallflower) – This had the same effect while warming and smelled like freshly baked brownies. It’s an odd fragrance to have as a wallflower but luckily it didn’t throw much after the first week.

I really enjoyed the sweet scents filling my home throughout December and I really can’t choose a favorite! I’ll be narrowing down my favorites of the entire year later this week in my 2016 recap, but in the meantime tell me what you burned through this month in the comments below!

November was a tough month for me; a lot of obstacles were thrown my way all the while I was constantly on the go. I’m one of those people that needs their relaxing alone time and I didn’t get much of that this month. It was definitely a slower burning month but I did get through 6 candles and 6 wax melts!

November 2016 Candle Empties

Smoked Caramel (1-wick) – The name of this candle describes this fragrance best – you get an equally strong caramel and smoky scent. It’s a really interesting combination from Target that’s perfect for the Fall. However, this only threw around a 2 even when put on the melter and wouldn’t pool out even when tin foiled. If it had a better performance I definitely would’ve picked up another.
Sweater Weather (1-wick) – Can you believe I’ve NEVER burned this scent before?! I don’t know why I waited so long to experience this candle. On cold it has more of a cologne note but when melting a background apple comes out. Next Fall I’ll definitely be picking up my first 3-wick!
Autumn Leaves (1-wick) – Wow, this was the strongest Yankee Candle I’ve ever burned. Within minutes of lighting this it filled my entire open concept living room. Aside from the great burn, the scent was a fresh Fall fragrance with undertones of apple and cinnamon. Absolutely amazing and I will repurchase again next year!
Cranberry Chutney (1-wick) – This is a nice sweet cranberry scent but only threw around a 3 in my small kitchen. It was nice but way too light (especially for the amount of oils that were visible) for me to ever repurchase.
Autumn Air (1-wick) – I’m still struggling to determine if this is a dupe for BBW’s Marshmallow Fireside or Radiant Red Maple. It definitely leans more towards MF but has a slight apple undertone. Yet this was another Yankee that didn’t throw well. I probably won’t waste my money again and will just stick to the BBW classics.
Chestnut & Clove (3-wick) – This is an absolutely amazing transition fragrance from Fall to Winter. It has a top note of clove, mid-note of chestnuts, and an undertone of vanilla. I usually burn this the week leading up to Thanksgiving and it didn’t disappoint this year. My only issue was that the wicks were off center making it difficult to pool out. Either way this is a hoard worthy one for me!

November 2016 Wax Empties

Brandied Pumpkin – This was a very nice pumpkin fragrance but didn’t have much of a brandy note. I enjoyed it while it lasted but wouldn’t repurchase, like most Kringle products.
Autumn Winds – I think this is pretty comparable to BBW Ski Lodge if not an exact dupe. It was a great bedroom scent but again I wouldn’t repurchase.
Perfect Pumpkin Ale – I enjoyed this much more than I expected to! It definitely had pumpkin (which is always a nice surprise) and you could really smell that ale note. If this comes out again next year I’ll definitely pick it up again – I’m trying to downsize my collection a bit before stocking up on more.
Caramel Pumpkin Seeds – This was a beautiful caramel pumpkin combination on cold sniff but it didn’t translate the same when warm. I didn’t enjoy it as much as I was hoping to and would hold off on buying again.
Cranberry Cookie Crumble – This was my favorite wax melt of the month and I went through 2 clam shells! There is a tart cranberry top note mixed with a sweet cookie fragrance. It really is wonderful and I have already bought back ups!

November 2016 Fragrance Empties

Pumpkin Pecan Waffles (wallflower) – Oh my gosh, I think this was my favorite form of this fragrance yet. You don’t get as much “cereal” scent like from the candle making it a delicious sweet fragrance. I hope they release this again next year!
Chestnut & Clove (wallflower) – In wallflower form, the vanilla comes out so much more than the candle. I still enjoy it just as much but it does tend to start having a Marshmallow Fireside feel to it. I wish this was released in this form again because I don’t have anymore in my collection!
Pumpkin Cranberry Cider (hand sanitizer) – Like most BBW products, there is no pumpkin in this. It does have a strong tart cranberry scent and an undertone of cider. It was nice but not my favorite.
Pumpkin Pecan Waffles (soap) – Last year I was dying to get my hands on this soap after using it at my mom’s house. However it did not smell like PPW at all – I wouldn’t be surprised if the wrong label was thrown onto this bottle.
Marshmallow Mittens (hand sanitizer) – This is essentially Marshmallow Fireside in sanitizer form and I’m so sad that they didn’t come out with this again!

While it was a slower month for melting I had some pleasant surprises like Autumn Leaves from Yankee Candle and Cranberry Cookie Crumble from Better Homes and Garden. I’m excited for some sweeter scents to get in the holiday spirit in December, I think my first pick will be Marshmallow Fireside – it’s usually the candle I melt while I decorate my Christmas tree!

September has come and gone in the blink of an eye it seems. Maybe it feels that way because I was extremely busy all month, which is also why I haven’t been posting much here or on Instagram. Either way, I still managed to burn 10 candles and 12 wax melts!

September 2016 Candle Empties

Leaves (3-wick) – Leaves is an essential Fall scent for me and every September 1st I light it up. I burned through two candles of it early this month and it did not disappoint. There were no issues with the burn and it threw at about an 8. Wonderful and a forever repurchase!
Cider Lane (3-wick & 1-wick) – I am SO happy BBW brought this back again, Cider Lane was the scent that started my candle obsession back in 2012. An incredibly delicious blend of apple & caramel. It threw about a 7 then unfortunately got puny wicks half-way through, but still nonetheless hoard-worthy!
Apple Cider Donut (1-wick) – This is a gorgeous bakery scent from Kringle that I couldn’t wait to burn. Too bad the throw was only a 1 – and that’s being generous! I had to tinfoil it as well to get it to pool out. Overall an unfortunate disappointment and I won’t be buying anymore candles from this company.
Radiant Red Maple (3-wick) – I am so sad to have burned through this backup from last year since it did not return. An amazing blend of marshmallow and apple that I seriously can’t get enough of. I finished this on the melter to get every last drop of fragrance oil out of there. BBW – PLEASE return Radiant Red Maple for 2017!
Pumpkin French Toast (3-wick) – On cold this smells like Pumpkin Spiced Cheesecake with more maple and it didn’t transform much while burning. I liked it enough to burn it until the puny wicks kicked in, but I didn’t bother even putting it on my melter because I wasn’t a fan. One and done for me!
Pumpkin Caramel Latte (3-wick) – This version of Pumpkin Caramel Latte is from 2012 and the fragrance is very sentimental to me. But that’s not the reason I hadn’t burned it yet, in the past 4 years I could only light it for 30 minutes before having an allergic reaction – no doubt it threw at a 10. However, this year there was absolutely no throw and it didn’t bother me at all. I pretty much gave up on it and said my goodbyes. If BBW ever brings this back again I might get a wallflower and that’s it.
Warm Apple Pie (1-wick) – I didn’t even try burning this candle since I’ve heard such horrible reviews. I did put it directly on my melter though which usually gives these little guys a pretty high throw. Not this scent, it was throwing at possibly a 1 or 2. Won’t repurchase.

September 2016 Wax Melt Empties

Apple Pie (wax melt) – Delicious scent on cold, couldn’t smell a thing melting. With so many other bakery apple scents out there I’ll pass on this Kringle going forward.
Apple Cider Donut (wax melt) – I was luckily able to get some fragrance out of this wax melt compared to the candle. It was still just too light for me though and I quickly melted through the 3 I had.
Apple Bobbin (wax melt) – This is a very nice, crisp apple scent with a hint of caramel mixed in. I enjoyed it, especially since it played off of all the candles I was melting very nicely. Nothing to go crazy over repurchasing though.
Warm Apple Pie (wax melt) – This Scentsations fragrance really surprised me – it was 75% bakery bread and 25% apple. I really liked the ratio and found that it would be nice to melt this throughout the entire year since it mainly smells like bread baking. Absolutely hoard-worhty.
Cider House Donuts (wax melt) – This is an exact dupe for Kringle’s Apple Cider Donut fragrance, except this actually throws! It smells like a cinnamon sugared donut with some apple cider spices mixed in. It’s delicious and I recommend you try to pick this up if it hasn’t already sold-out.
Caramel Applewood (wax melt) – This is 100% an exact dupe for BBW Cider Lane. I melted this at the same time I burned the candle and there’s literally no difference. Get your hands on this and stock up.
Apple Butter Frosting (wax melt) – I was really excited to try this fragrance from Scentsy but was ultimately let down. I LOVED how this smelled on cold but when it was warming the fragrance was just overpowered by cinnamon and not really balanced or enjoyable. I’m not sure if I got a bad batch or what but I’ll pass in the future.
Apple S’mores (wax melt) – Last but certainly not least, this is Scenty’s dupe for Radiant Red Maple. Thank the candle gods I’ll still be able to have this fragrance in my life. It’s definitely in my top 5 of all-time. I’m already stocked up but I may purchase more in January during the 10% off sale!

September 2016 Candle Empties

Leaves (wallflower) – This wasn’t as strong as I’d hoped it would be, I only got whiffs here and there throughout the month. The oils completely evaporated though which was surprising.
Lakeside Sunrise (wallflower) – This is a light fragrance to begin with and I could only smell it if I to a whiff of the wallflower plug itself. It’s also Brian’s favorite scent and he didn’t even notice I’d plugged it in.
Golden Autumn Day (hand soap) – I really enjoyed this! If you know what BBW’s Winter smells like, this smells like a mix of that and crisp apples.
Beach Nights (body wash) – Summer Marshmallow was the hit fragrance from BBW this past Summer. I loved using this body wash but the scent didn’t linger much at all. I prefer the body cream from this line anyway!
Boardwalk Vanilla Cone (hand sanitizer) – O M G, I wish I could smell like this all the time. It’s just absolutely divine. I’m thanking my past self for stocking up on these before the summer ended. If this fragrance comes back during SAS I’ll be hoarding it.

September is clearly the month dedicated to apple fragrances for me! I look forward to them all year long and am so happy to have been able to enjoy so many wonderful scents. It’s too difficult to pick a favorite fragrance for the month but I was definitely most surprised by Scentsationals Warm Apple Pie.  I hope you had a great September, now let’s move on to our favorite pumpkin fragrances!

August was all about the transitional scents! All together 10 candles, 17 wax melts, 1 wallflower, 1 soap, and 1 body lotion sum up my month. It was a great fragrance month and here is everything I melted!

August 2016 Candle Empties

Summer Boardwalk (3-wick) – One of my favorite fragrances of all-time; salty popcorn mixed with caramel apples. Will absolutely repurchase for as long as it’s sold.
Banana Nutmeg Bread Pudding (3-wick) – Absolutely amazing transitional scent and will repurchase as long as BBW offers it. It’s now labeled as Pumpkin Banana Muffin though.
Sparkling Pear Riesling (3-wick) – Really great effervescent white wine fragrance. Even though this is still on shelves I’ll wait to repurchase next year if it’s re-released.
Spiced Pomegranate Cider (3-wick) – This was an okay scent that was enjoyable but not repurchase worthy; 1 and done!
Bourbon Butterscotch (3-wick) – A fragrance that came out in 2014 and unfortunately smelled burnt when I lit up the last half. While it smells great, I’m not sure I’d repurchase.
Autumn Day (3-wick) – What an amazing fragrance this is. Too bad it had the worst burn problems of any BBW candle, ever. I tried 2 different versions of this candle and both had puny wick syndrome on first burn. On the melter it went and out of my collection it will stay.
Vampire Blood (1-wick) – Definitely a transition scent and not a Halloween scent in the slightest. This was all together fruit punch. Enjoyable, but not my thing.
Orange Dreamsicle (1-wick) – True to life fragrance in adorable packaging from Cracker Barrel, but no throw. I actually made it into wax melts but even then it barely threw.
Sugar Plum (2-wick) – My first McCall’s candle and it smelled delicious, but the throw was on par with YC. One wick ended up drowning and I finished it off on the melter, where I still didn’t smell it. Probably won’t buy from this company again.
Crisp Apple Strudel (1-wick) – I don’t have any other apple scents in my collection like this one. You could actually smell the sugar crystals that would be on top of this divine dessert. As much as I love it, I won’t repurchase due to lack of throw.

August 2016 Wax Empties

Apple Spice – I melted 3 of these YC tarts and only 1 of them had a little throw. Disappointed and just trying to get through the last of their tarts in my stash – will never repurchase from them again.
Candied Citrus Pumpkin – This was great; it had the perfect balance of citrus and spice. Not hoardworthy for me though.
Vanilla Lavender – There was something really off about this, it almost smelled like cologne. Will never repurchase.
Apple Cider Donut – The first fragrance from Kringle I can never be without. It performed wonderfully for about 5 hours then slowly died.
Vanilla Cookie Crunch – A mixer scent that must always be in my collection.
Candy Corn – Another YC tart that had no throw.
Kettle Corn – Crossroads wax melts definitely lose their scent rather quickly if not melted. This had little to no fragrance and it’s another company I won’t buy from again.
Cranberry Chutney – Melted 2 of these tarts from YC that yet again lacked throw.
Autumn Rain – WOW, this Autumn foral scent was beautiful. It was actually so strong that I had an allergic reaction; too bad because I would’ve stocked up.
Covered Bridge – A Fall cologne scent, pass on the repurchase.
At the Fair – Stop what you’re doing and go buy this from Wal-Mart. It’s almost an exact dupe of Summer Boardwalk but a little heavier on the apple. I have already hoarded enough for a few years and have no shame.
Brandied Peach Cobbler – The first peach scent I actually enjoyed! Too bad it barely threw and what I did smell was kind of funky warm. I actually returned my second clamshell.
White Pumpkin – Hell to the no, this was disgusting.
Caramel Apple – Another Crossroads melt with barely any throw.

August 2016 Fragrance Empties

Summer Boardwalk (wallflower) – This version of SB was from the Slatkin era, back in 2012. Either it went very bad sitting in my closet over the years or it was mis-labeled. It actually smelled like BBW’s old Pumpkin Caramel Latte which isn’t bad, just not what I was looking for.
Boardwalk Vanilla Cone (soap) – Wow, this was one of the best soap fragrances ever. It truly smelled like a salty yet sweet ice cream cone. If you can find any left on sale, hoard away!
Summer Marshmallow (body cream) – I have NEVER finished a body cream (or lotion) from BBW in the 10 years I’ve shopped there, until now. I was so impressed with this scent that I’ve hoarded many more. It really reminds me of Peanut Butter Sugar from Goose Creek with more vanilla.

I can’t believe how many home fragrances I went through in August. My absolute favorite was At the Fair from Better Homes and Garden. I’m excited to move on to September now, this is when I burn my 3 favorite apple scents! What did you melt in August and what do you plan on burning in September? Share in the comments!

The month of August holds fond memories for me; long beach days, trips to the fair, ice cream sundaes, and preparing for the Fall. I like to save some of my favorite Summer candles for this month to bring back some of those distant memories. Here are the candles and wax melts I hope to burn through for August 2016.

  • Summer Boardwalk
  • Kettle Corn (melt)
  • Orange Dreamsicle (melt)
  • Banana Nutmeg Bread Pudding
  • Bourbon Butterscotch
  • Sparkling Amber
  • White Pumpkin (melt)
  • Sparkling Pear Riesling

I have no doubt that I’ll be able to burn through these 5 candles and 3 wax melts this month. I’m surprised at the lack of Summer wax melts I have left to melt at this point and won’t be surprised if I dig into my Fall stash early. I may also burn White Chocolate Apple occasionally throughout the month too. I’m excited to start getting back into warmer & comforting scents! What are you planning on burning this month? Okay confession time – I have over 100 candles. I seriously need to de-stash, especially before we move later this Fall! To try burning through as much as possible, I’m going to begin posting a “to burn” list at the beginning of each month. Here is what I hope to burn through for July 2016.

  • Tropical Pina Colada (melt)
  • Watermelon Lemonade
  • Juicy Watermelon
  • Wild Berry Cheesecake (melt)
  • Storm Watch
  • Suntan
  • Summer Bonfire
  • Bonfire Beach (melt)
  • Heirloom Tomato
  • Basil (melt)
  • Snap Peas

I know this list might seem unrealistic, but a few candles have been previously burned which will hopefully assist in accomplishing my goal. The only candle I don’t expect to fully get through is Heirloom Tomato and I’m fine with that. I’ll also be burning Tailgating occasionally throughout the month, but that’s another I won’t finish. What are you planning on burning this month? Share in the comments!

Each year, May signifies the start of allergy season for me. This also means I usually go on a melting hiatus since I can hardly smell anything. With this in mind, I chose to burn through any half-used candles or scents I wasn’t too fond of this past month.

May 2016 Candle Empties

Winter (3-wick candle) – I burned through most of this back in December and it had puny wick syndrome. Rather than keeping this locked away for another 6 months, I finished it off on the melter. Despite it’s burn issues, this scent will always be a must-have for the colder months.

Marshmallow Fireside (3-wick candle) – Ahh, the amazing MF. The perfect balance of sweet and woodsy that I can’t get enough of during the winter months. This was another I used back in December and finished on the melter during May.

Red Velvet Cheer (3-wick candle) –  Another candle from Decemeber that had puny wick syndrome. A delicious scent that was finished off on the melter.

Banana Cream Cake (1-wick candle) – I’ve had this candle for years and was determined to finish it off at last. This only threw in my small kitchen and smelled exactly like a ripe banana. It was enjoyable while it lasted but I’m not upset that it’s a retired scent.

Mango Sorbet (1-wick candle) – This was a delicious fruity scent that I picked up from Target years ago. It only threw a couple days on the melter and I wouldn’t recommend if it ever popped up on shelves again.

Leaves (1-wick candle) – Another loved candle that was half-burned last Fall. I finished this off on the melter in my bedroom and it was great! It definitely has made me start counting down the days until September. 😉

May 2015 Wax Melt Empties

Blackberry Parfait (wax melt) – I was quite disappointed by this scent since it smelled more like cologne than fruit. I melted this in the bedroom and am happy to be done with it.

Strawberry Lemonade Cupcake (wax melt) – Another GC scent that I was happy to quickly burn through. It lacked the bakery and lemon notes so I was only left with a fake strawberry fragrance.

Archives (wax melt) – When I purchased this from Kringle, I was hoping it would remind me of old library books. It unfortunately was yet another cologne scent. I was impressed by the throw of it though.

Strawberry Cake (wax melt) – This was a birthday gift and not something I would’ve picked up on my own. Another fake strawberry scent that barely threw. Mixing this with Vanilla Cookie Crunch made it quite enjoyable though.

Blueberry Pancakes (wax melt) – I’ve realized that all of Crossroads wax melts pretty much only smell like wax on cold sniff. I’m always impressed once they’re melting though. This was a basic blueberry scent and when warm I could pick up on a maple syrup note. Not something I’d repurchase though.

Wild Berry Cheesecake (wax melt) – WOW. This scent is beyond amazing. I must always have at least 2 backups.

Vanilla Cookie Crunch (wax melt) – While this scent smells lovely on it’s own, it’s a GREAT blending option. Upon melting anything, I try it out with this to see if it’s elevated or not. I finally got through an entire value pack and will quickly be purchasing another!

Sleepy Sloth (wax crumbles) – When I placed an order with Wax Crumbles, this was the free sample it arrived with. I think this was meant to be a relaxing scent but I used it more when my allergies were bothering me. Not the biggest fan but I was happy to try it out.

Watermelon Lemonade (wax crumbles) – I was interested to see how Wax Crumbles version compared to BBW. This wasn’t as tart and did not throw well. I’d rather just stick with BBW.

May 2015 Wallflower Empties

Sugared Lemons (wallflower) – This was the same scent I had going in my living room wallflower plug last month. However, unlike in April, this didn’t perform well. I only got whiffs of it if I stood right above it.

Island Margarita (wallflower) – This might be the worst performing wallflower I’ve ever owned. I smelled it during the first week and then absolutely nothing. It lost it’s gorgeous green color and barely evaporated.

For a melting hiatus month, I sure did burn through quite a bit. I’m glad to have de-stashed some half melted favorites and other not so favorites. Now I’ll have room for the long awaited semi-annual sales this June! 😉 What did you melt this month and which was your favorite? Share in the comments!

Hey, melters! April was the month of constant burning for me as you can tell by the empties photo. I really wanted to start making my way through some older candles in my stash, especially if they had been previously burned. I’m proud in a way to see how much I actually got through; I’ve never melted so much within one month in my life!

April 2016 Candle EmptiesParis Lavender Macaron (3-wick candle) – So far in 2016, this is my favorite candle that BBW has released. It’s definitely not everyone’s cup of tea, but I adore it. If you’ve ever smelled the companies Black Currant Vanilla scent, this is a lighter version with a bakery note. In my opinion it’s lovely but due to some sooting I had to finish it on the warmer.

Raspberry Peach Macaron (3-wick candle) – It was a sad day when I finished this scent off on the candle warmer. This was one of the best candles BBW ever came out with in Spring of 2014. Why they haven’t brought it back baffles me. If they ever do, I will be hoarding about 20 of these beauties.

Pumpkin Pecan Waffle (3-wick candle) – Any wax connoisseur knows all about PPW and how well it performs time and time again. I finished off my Fall 2014 edition on the candle warmer and it was wonderful.

Blueberry Muffin (1-wick candle) – Shawn from Hearth and Soul nominated this as a candle of the year nominee, so of course I had to try it out. The scent was way too light for me, it struggled to pool out correctly, and I could only get whiffs of it in my bathroom. Not a scent I want to smell in my bathroom. If I ever gave this fragrance a chance again it would be in melt form.

Lavender Macaron (3-wick candle) – This was a nice scent from Woodwick, but it only threw in my small bathroom. Even more disappointing was that I only burned this twice before the candle became empty. I would never purchase this again; at least I’ve got the cute dish to repurpose though!

Lavender Lemonade (1-wick candle) – I picked this little guy up from Target a couple years back. It was very refreshing but I can’t say it was anything too special.

Lemon Drops (1-wick candle) – This was another one of the fragrances from BBW’s 2014 Spring line. It was a nice background scent that I had on a warmer in my bedroom. I’m not mad it hasn’t made it back into stores since then.

April 2016 Wax Empties

Iced Lemon Sugar Cookies (wax melt) – This was one of those scents that smelled great on cold but I hated when burning. I tried mixing it with the beloved Vanilla Cookie Crunch, but that didn’t help much. With so many other great lemon scents out there, I wouldn’t bother picking this up again.

Sugared Lavender Twist (wax melt) – This was a really nice scent that threw great in my bedroom. With that being said, it wasn’t anything spectacular. I’m not sure I’ll be stocking up on this anytime soon.

Iced Lemon Poundcake (wax melt) – Now this lemon scent was AMAZING. I actually hated it on cold, but when it warmed up it was magnificent. Especially when mixed with Vanilla Cookie Crunch. Wow, just wow. You need to pick this one up at Wal-Mart ASAP; I’m definitely stocked and ready for next Spring already!

Vanilla Lime (wax melt) – For some reason, I was craving a key lime scent this month. Vanilla Lime from YC was a quick fix and threw quite well. I’m not rushing to buy it in candle form though.

Sugared Lemons (wallflower) – For a wallflower in my living room, this performed great. I got whiffs of it throughout the month and it blended well with everything else I was melting.

Fresh Water & Sea Salt (wallflower) – I had no idea how great this scent was. This was SO strong in my bedroom. I’m a bit upset that it’s no longer available in wallflower form because I’d probably have this plugged in throughout the year. Crossing my fingers it’ll be back later this year!

I think it’s safe to say that April was the month of all things lemon and lavender. I definitely started giving my wax warmers more love and really enjoyed it. My absolute favorite scent this month was Iced Lemon Poundcake mixed with Vanilla Cookie Crunch; I think I could burn this year-round! What did you burn through this month? Share in the comments!
