My top 3 apple scented candles all come from Bath & Body Works; Leaves, Cider Lane, and Radiant Red Maple. I always start off September with Leaves which smells like a honeyed apple cider. Then I move onto the deliciously sweet caramel apple fragrance, Cider Lane. I unfortunately only have one more Radiant Red Maple in my collection and refuse to burn it since BBW hasn’t brought it back, but it’s a lovely blend of apples and marshmallow.

I always enjoy amping up my candles with corresponding wax melts and these 3 just happen to be my favorites when it comes to apples. Apple S’mores is an exact dupe for Radiant Red Maple so I luckily can still enjoy the scent. Unfortunately Scentsy just retired this but if you can somehow still get your hands on it, do it! A great dupe for Cider Lane that’s available all year is Goose Creek’s Caramel Applewood. Finally, ScentSationals Warm Apple Pie is an amazing bakery scent with undertones of apple that’s absolutely divine.

The only apple scented body care I’ve ever enjoyed was released from Bath & Body Works last year. Don’t let the name Pumpkin Apple Cider fool you. It’s a straight up mix of apple cider and apple pie that is absolutely incredible. I’m so sad I only have one body cream left and might just head on over to Ebay for some more, it’s that good!

If you live in New England or have ever visited in the fall, you’ll understand why I’m a bit addicted to apple scents. Everything I’ve shared today just embodies Autumn in my area. These scents bring me back to apple picking on a crisp day and the aroma of sweet treats at my local art festival. In my opinion, there’s honestly nothing better than these holy grail apple fragrances of mine!

This shopping experience really got me thinking, why does Bath & Body Works seem to retire all of their best scents? For example, here are just a few fan favorites:

Pink Petal Teacake
Radiant Red Maple
Raspberry Peach Macaron
Strawberry Rhubarb Marmalade
Winter Garland
Cider Donut
Cranberry Pumpkin

Go on Ebay or Mercari and you will see these fragrances selling for an obscene amount of money. If Bath & Body Works did any sort of research they’d realize if these scents were brought back to the market they’d make a great deal of money for their corporation. Sales couldn’t have been that bad when these candles were initially brought to market if there’s this big of a fan following.

So why doesn’t Bath & Body Works return all of these favorable fragrances? Here are a few of my theories.

1. Forgotten Formula

I feel like Raspberry Peach Macaron is a prime example of this. The wax community has never been able to find a dupe for this fragrance from any other wax vendors. Is this scent so unique that no one can duplicate it, including the original source? I’ve heard of breweries not writing down their brew formulas and never being able to replicate it, so maybe it’s the same when it comes to our favorite candles.

2. Formula Issues

Again, Raspberry Peach Macaron is another prime example for this theory. Anyone selling this 2014 candle online states that there is crystallization in the wax. Consumers have called corporate regarding this issue and were ensured that ‘this was an ongoing problem for this specific scent and it wouldn’t effect the overall burning experience.’ Maybe the company wanted to bring this fragrance back but just couldn’t solve the wax crystallization issue. However, I haven’t heard of this happening to any other candles.

3. Collection Size

It’s no secret that Bath & Body Works always brings back it’s returning “favorites” each season in multiple collections. Maybe they are well aware that we want the other scents to come back too but know that Marshmallow Fireside, Leaves, etc are better sellers. Having been involved with the process of creating lines of products before, I know higher ups give marketers a specific number of slots to fill with products. It could really be as simple as this; BBW looking at their sales and not having the shelf space or sku’s available for our other rare favorites.

These theories of mine may not be correct at all or maybe it’s a mixture of the three. No matter the reason, it would be nice to see some of the best scents from the past several years brought back again. Even if it’s just one more time in a ‘Fan Favorites’ collection! Or it would be nice if they rotated our their retuning favorites each year. Hopefully one day Bath & Body Works will listen to us and we will be able to get our hands on these fragrances again at a decent price!

I really wish I had a back up of Radiant Red Maple so I could burn that too but will just have to settle for it’s Scentsy dupe. The first stop was Yankee Candle’s friends and family sale where everything (except accessories) was 50% off. I ended up picking up a medium jar of Olive Oil & Thyme, a medium pure radiance jar of Autumn Air, a small jar of Cranberry Chutney, and a new pumpkin shaped illumi-lid. PSA – Autumn Air is almost an exact dupe of Radiant Red Maple! Also, I couldn’t believe how much fragrance oil was dripping from the Cranberry Chutney. All together this purchase came to $35!

The following day when I realized that Bath & Body Works had a 2/$24 sale, I rushed to the store because Chocolate Pistachio finally came in. I picked up one Pumpkin Spice (a repackage of Nutmeg & Spice) and one Chocolate Pistachio candle. Then, to use my $10 off $30 coupon, I grabbed two Crisp Morning Air soaps that were on sale for $3 each. This purchase came to $21 and with merchandise credit I didn’t pay anything out of pocket!

On Saturday I made a trip to the closest White Barn which is an hour road trip.  There I grabbed a 3-wick of Pumpkin Pie and Pumpkin Banana Muffin. I was also lucky enough to find the Golden Autumn Day soap in-stock (which I have been wanting for the past month) and got the same deal. After using the rest of my merchandise credit I ended up paying $18 out of pocket – well worth the trip!

On our way back home we stopped at the Yankee Candle outlet in Wrentham, MA. I was itching to use the free large jar candle coupon with any $10 purchase. I couldn’t believe my luck when I saw Tarte Tatin, Rhubarb Crumble, and Paradise Spice sitting on the shelves. I quickly snatched the rare finds up and picked out Sugar Flower as my freebie. This  haul amounted to just $28.

I’d say that I’m pretty stocked up for this upcoming season now, at least until Cider Lane is released! It was nice to get out of the terribly hot weather for a bit and do some retail therapy. Did you haul anything during this weekend’s sales and are you excited for Fall? Share in the comments!

Radiant Red Maple is one of those scents you either love or hate – I happen to be obsessed with it. If you never had the chance to sniff it last year, it smells like delicious fresh apples mixed with toasted marshmallow. It is definitely a unique combination but heavenly. If you are a fan of Marshmallow Fireside, then chances are you’d adore this fragrance too.

Before you get too upset that RRM isn’t returning, let me let you in on a little secret; I discovered a dupe from Scentsy! Their version of this amazing fragrance is called Apple S’mores and it is almost exactly identical. You get the same apple & marshmallow combination but there is a tad less smokiness. If I wasn’t smelling these two scents side by side I never would have detected any difference.

I thank the candle gods that I was able to find a comparable option to Radiant Red Maple. If you were a fan like myself, you can definitely get your fix with Apple S’mores. I have already stocked up on enough wax melts and room spray to last me 2 years just in case Scentsy retires their fragrance too! What is your favorite Fall fragrance? I’ve known about Scentsy for quite some time, but the higher prices and consultant based shopping always turned me off. Finding out about the RRM dupe was a total game changer though. My fiancé and I browsed the site, and purchased a small haul of things to try out.

I purchased three Scentsy bars – 2 Apple S’mores (the dupe) and 1 Bonfire Beach. To my delight, Apple S’mores smells EXACTLY like Radiant Red Maple. Bonfire Beach is pretty comparable to BBW Summer Bonfire with a bit more freshness and citrus. I’m excited to see how strong this brand’s fragrance throws soon and will definitely give a more in-depth review.

We also purchased a Scentsy Buddy – a cuddly stuffed animal that holds fragrance packs. The company was offering a shark buddy that we couldn’t pass up, especially since it came with a free scent pack! After asking Norma’s FB group which scents I should try out, Luna was a clear winner. Luna is a very fresh & floral, almost soapy, scent which is enjoyable. I’m really impressed with the quality of the Scentsy buddy and how well the fragrance comes through.

Even though I only did a mini haul, I can understand the hype around Scentsy. I’m obviously going to be stocking up big time on the Radiant Red Maple dupe and getting more scent packs for my shark buddy soon!
