Don’t let this variety of pink packaging and floral scents fool you, we are indeed looking at my March burn list and not going back in time. For some reason, I prefer the sweet floral fragrances when it get’s closer to Spring. It just so happens that all the packaging blends together beautifully and will fit right in with my Easter décor! Without further ado, here is what I play on burning throughout the next month.

CANDLES

• Champagne Toast – “Glittering champagne, wild berries, tangerine zest”
• Lavender Macaron –
“Celebrate the city of love with a truly French treat that combines the scent of lavender blossoms with a patisserie cookie”
• Lavender Marshmallow –
“The merging of two unexpected flavors, Lavender and Marshmallow, make this mouthwatering blend a special treat”
• Pink Petal Tea Cake –
“Rose Petals, Fluffy Cake and Orange Essential Oil”
• Raspberry Peach Macaron –
“The ultimate French cookie is celebrated in a unique blend of ripe raspberries, juicy peach and almond cream”

WAX MELTS

• Pink Velvet – “This sweet and fun fragrance mingles sugared lemon, apple and pineapple into a sweet heart of tropical punch and red currant. Sugar cane and vanilla bean in the base deliver a captivating finish.”
• Umbridge –
“Tea & cakes, sugar dusted roses and cotton candy”

If the past month was any indication, I don’t think I’ll have any trouble getting through this entire burn list. I can’t believe I only have two wax melts in my entire collection that fit this sweet floral theme – expect to see multiples in my empties!

Chai usually has some pretty distinct notes, yet this just smelled like watered down tea tree oil. No thanks.

This month I burned 8 Candles & 8 Wax Melts!

Every sweet scent that filled my home in February complimented each other so well. I was most surprised by Magic Cookie Bar and let down by Nutty Butter Cookie Bars. My hands-down favorite though was Chocolate Pistachio – I could’ve burned only this for the entire month!

Remember last month when I told you we were moving? Well that didn’t happen and SHOULD be happening this month. Rather than making an extensive list, I’m going to try and simplify. I probably won’t be able to burn candles nearly as much as I’ll be able to melt wax, so the list will definitely be heavier in that category.

CANDLES

• Sugared Lemon Zest – Bright Lemon Zest, Sorrento Lemons, Cane Sugar”
• Lemon Mint Leaf – “Sparkling Lemon Zest, Spearmint Leaves, Verbena Sprigs”
• Lemon Pound Cake – “A warm lemon poundcake that just popped out of the oven.”

WAX MELTS

• Pink Velvet – “This sweet and fun fragrance mingles sugared lemon, apple and pineapple into a sweet heart of tropical punch and red currant. Sugar cane and vanilla bean in the base deliver a captivating finish.”
• Gryffindor – “Frosted Lemon Meringue Cheesecake with raspberry glaze.”
• Iced Lemon Poundcake (x2) “A medley of homemade vanilla infused pound cake drizzled in lemon essence icing and a twist of candied lemon zest.”
• Limoncello (x4) “Sorrento Lemons, Cane Sugar, Lemon Zest”
• Vanilla Cookie Crunch – A warm blend of bakery vanilla & sugar cookies

Clearly, I’m focusing on sweet lemon scents this month. While the list might not be extensive, I’m trying to be realistic. (Technically, I have 9 melts to get through which will take a while.) If I find that I have more time to burn, I might break out a Key Lime Pie candle too!

One of the latest trends in the world of wax is pistachio scents. It seems like every company is releasing their own version that smells almost identical to the other. I thought it would be nice to compare each one of them to figure out what the differences are, if any, and help you decide which to purchase. Without further ado, here are the 3 most popular pistachio scents in order of release.

Yankee Candle – Crunchy Pistachio Vanilla – This pistachio fragrance is definitely unlike the other two because it has more of a bakery note. It smells like an almond shortbread cookie with an undertone of pistachio. It’s a great scent but better suited for the winter holidays.

Wal-Mart – Salted Pistachio Sorbet – Now this is a pistachio fragrance! You immediately get a nutty pistachio note and then a base of sweet cream. I wouldn’t go as far as saying it smells like sorbet and actually think I’ll melt this in August as a transition into fall based on the slight saltiness.

Scentsy – Pistachio Ice Cream – Out of the 3 pistachio scents, this is the truest to it’s name. It has a perfect balance of a realistic ice cream and pistachio nut. It’s definitely close to the Wal-Mart version but has less of a salty note and more authentic creaminess. As someone who worked in an ice cream shop for years, I can attest that this will be a beautiful option for the middle of summer.

While all three pistachio fragrances seem almost identical when you smell them separately, they are very different when side-by-side. I think it’s great that each can identify with a different season if you’re a hardcore pistachio fan. If you’re not a seasonal burner, I’ll tell you that my favorite was Salted Pistachio Sorbet from Wal-Mart. I personally prefer a more prominent pistachio note rather than the sweet. I hope this guide will help you decide which version is best for you based on your preferences!

Have you melted any of these pistachio fragrances? Which is your favorite? Share in the comments!

Even though February is the shortest month of the year, it felt pretty long to me! Maybe it’s because we’ve been waiting for our official move date or due to the several big snow storms followed by 70 degree weather. No matter the reason, it was an enjoyable burning month for me – I got through 8 candles and 7 wax melts!

February 2017 Candle Empties

Macaron Treats (1-wick) – This didn’t exactly smell like a macaron to me, more like a light almond-vanilla cake. There wasn’t an overpowering almond extract note which I really appreciated. It’s definitely a gourmand fragrance but unfortunately only threw at about 2 in my small bathroom.
Christmas Cakes (1-wick) – On cold, this truly smelled like the Little Debbie christmas tree cakes. It’s pretty much a vanilla and white chocolate combination, also more of a gourmand fragrance than straight up bakery. Unfortunately, there was absolutely 0 throw while burning in my small bathroom.
Peanut Butter Cookie (2-wick) – For any BBW Hot Cocoa & Cream lovers, this is pretty much an exact dupe. Burning this smells like a freshly baked brownie with the slightest undertone of salty peanuts. This was my first Crossroads candle; it threw at a 9 the entire time and burned flawlessly.
Peanut Butter Sugar (3-wick) – An all-time favorite fragrance of mine that I’ve mentioned often, however this was the first time I burned it in candle form. It was even better than the wax melt and threw at a steady 7 the entire time! Truly an amazing salty, sweet candle for this time of year that I would pick up again without second guessing.
Honey Lavender Gelato (1-wick) – In true Yankee fashion, this was practically unscented. What little I could smell was kind of sour which was disappointing because on cold it’s a smooth berry fragrance. I really wanted to love this but won’t be picking it up again in any form factor.
Chocolate Pistachio (3-wick) – Wow, this smelled truly amazing. It was all peanut with bottom notes of chocolate and seriously smelled like a Snickers bar. While it threw around a 7 it continuously got PWS, had to be cotton-balled, and struggled to pool out. If BBW brings this back I’ll pick it up again but won’t stock up because it’s a unique scent that I would only burn during February.
Cinnamon Sugared Doughnut (3-wick) – Can you believe that I’ve never burned CSD before? It’s a beautiful blend of bakery dough, a touch of cinnamon, and a slight greasiness. This unfortunately only threw around a 4 or 5 and had thick, chubby wicks. I wasn’t impressed with this version but would definitely give a stronger iteration a try.
Winter Rose (1-wick) – I am not a floral person but this fragrance was really nice! It’s definitely all rose but had a clean type of scent to it. It took a while to pool out but once it did it threw around an 8. I wouldn’t be quick to pick it up again but did enjoy it while it lasted!

February 2017 Wax Empties

Sparkling Cream Soda – When I first purchased this wax melt in 2016 it was a beautiful bubbly blend of creamy vanilla. However, after a short 4 months this lost 98% of it’s scent. It also had glitter mixed into the wax which was terrible to clean out of my dishes. I didn’t even bother finishing the entire clamshell.
Merry Berry Linzer
(x2) – This was a really sweet bakery scent perfect to melt alongside some of the other chocolate fragrances this month. The top notes were a fruity mixture of raspberry and cherries with a delicious undertone of shortbread cookie. Very happy to have a couple more backups of this!
Eskimo Kiss – This is a really unique fragrance; there is an effervescent fruity note combined with spun sugar. Even though it sounds so obviously sweet it almost has a fresh quality to it too. The combination is just beautiful and this could really be warmed any time of the year. Hoping Scentsy brings this back next Winter!
Cotton Candy Cookie – True to it’s name, this was a very strong spun sugar scent with undertones of lemon and raspberry. It really was a delicious fragrance that threw well but lacked a bakery note.
Candy Dandy –  A pretty underwhelming and basic sugar candy fragrance. Think of getting sweethearts, sweet tarts, etc and throwing them all in a bowl and melting it down. Nothing exciting and it barely threw.
Sugared Cinnamon Donut – This was an insanely strong cinnamon vanilla fragrance but lacked a realistic bakery note. It was nice but I don’t plan on picking it up again.

February 2017 Home Fragrance Empties

Lavender Vanilla (wallflowers) – I am a big fan of lavender scents when they are done right, unfortunately for BBW this version was just wrong. It’s straight up lavender and vanilla essential oil. Combined they are not pleasing and it smells like a mixture of products you’d be using when changing a baby’s diaper. Of course, these wallflowers were great throwers too for the first week and then quickly dudded out.
White Birch & Vanilla (hand soap) – I’m usually a seasonal fragrance girl so this was pretty out of the ordinary for me to use since it smelled somewhere in between the Autumn and Leaves candles from BBW. A very nice scent that I still enjoyed even though it was very misplaced for February.
Gingerbread Latte (body cream) – To me, this was more of a delicious sugar cookie scent than BBW’s other fan favorite Vanilla Bean Noel. This was absolutely perfect for the holidays and had a hint of nutmeg reminiscing beloved holiday treats.

February was certainly a sweet melting month! My favorite fragrance was probably Chocolate Pistachio which I really wasn’t expecting. I was able to melt through everything on my burn list (and then some) and can’t wait to get into some transitional Spring scents in March!

Last month I stayed away from sweeter scents, but in February I’m ready to dive back into all the delicious gourmand fragrances. I think it’s the heart shaped boxes filled with chocolate that get me back in the mood for sweets. This month I’m continuing to keep my burn list fairly reasonable since we have yet to move and it could happen anytime now.

CANDLES

• Peanut Butter Cookie“Crushed peanuts, buttercream, cocoa, and vanilla”
• Macaron Treats – “The classic Parisian macaron – sweet as can be and lighter than air, with notes of vanilla, almond and, of course, sugar”
• Chocolate Pistachio“Pistachio, chocolate truffle, and white powdered sugar”
• Christmas Cakes“Celebrate the season with a delicious blend of sugar, candy floss, marshmallow, butter and lemon while a background of brown sugar, vanilla bean and tonka leaves mouths watering.”
• Cinnamon Sugared DoughnutFreshly-baked vanilla cake doughnut covered in sugar crystals and crushed cinnamon.”

WAX MELTS

• Eskimo Kiss“Blackberry jam, caramelized brown sugar, vanilla, and amber in a softly romantic scent.”
• Merry Berry Linzer“Jammy raspberry filling nestled in almond shortbread with a vanilla glaze.”
• Sparkling Cream Soda“An old fashioned soda shop classic having all the bubbly notes frothing over the glass with the truly characteristic, caramelized sugar and vanilla cream aroma.”
• Sugared Cinnamon Donut – “A mouthwatering mix of cinnamon sugar, vanilla bean, and raw sugarcane poured over a warm homemade donut for an ultimate, fresh baked scent.”

I have no doubt that I’ll be able to get through this list – I actually might need to pace myself. I really want to burn the chocolate scents around Valentine’s Day and the donut ones at the end of the month. If I do get through everything quicker than expected I’ll probably start burning Hot Cocoa & Cream, Mocha Latte Swirl, and Peanut Butter Sugar. Nevertheless this is definitely going to be a sickeningly sweet month and not because of the holiday! 😉

I am super late to jump on the Goose Creek bandwagon but am nevertheless happy to have discovered the brand. Since placing my first order in April, I’ve melted 5 different scents and each have been enjoyable. My favorite fragrance from Goose Creek so far is Peanut Butter Sugar. While this isn’t anything new, it’s an amazing discovery that has made it’s way into my all-time favorite scents.

What does this smell like? Together warm vanilla, salty peanuts, and a “buttery” bakery note are combined which results in a deliciously sweet scent. The balance of fragrances is divine and I haven’t smelled anything similar elsewhere. Overall appeal is an 8 on cold but 10 when burning.

Goose Creek Peanut Butter Sugar Fragrance Review

Does it throw? I first tried out this scent in my office area where it only threw around a 4. Disappointed, I stopped burning it for a few weeks. I gave it another chance in my bedroom and what a different it made. In this smaller confined space Peanut Butter Sugar threw around a 9.

This salty-sweet fragrance is getting filed into my 2016 favorites. I will absolutely be re-purchasing more wax melts during the next sale and may even try my first Goose Creek candle in this scent! Have you ever burned Peanut Butter Sugar? Share your thoughts on this scent in the comments!
