I FINALLY CAVED. I went on Ebay and purchased one of my favorite rare candles that Bath & Body Works never brought back. Being someone who has never purchased a candle at full price, it actually hurt spending more than I ever normally would. But, when you see a decent price for 2 mason jars of Raspberry Peach Macaron you don’t think twice as you hit ‘place order’.

This shopping experience really got me thinking, why does Bath & Body Works seem to retire all of their best scents? For example, here are just a few fan favorites:

Pink Petal Teacake
Radiant Red Maple
Raspberry Peach Macaron
Strawberry Rhubarb Marmalade
Winter Garland
Cider Donut
Cranberry Pumpkin

Go on Ebay or Mercari and you will see these fragrances selling for an obscene amount of money. If Bath & Body Works did any sort of research they’d realize if these scents were brought back to the market they’d make a great deal of money for their corporation. Sales couldn’t have been that bad when these candles were initially brought to market if there’s this big of a fan following.

So why doesn’t Bath & Body Works return all of these favorable fragrances? Here are a few of my theories.

1. Forgotten Formula

I feel like Raspberry Peach Macaron is a prime example of this. The wax community has never been able to find a dupe for this fragrance from any other wax vendors. Is this scent so unique that no one can duplicate it, including the original source? I’ve heard of breweries not writing down their brew formulas and never being able to replicate it, so maybe it’s the same when it comes to our favorite candles.

Raspberry Peach Macaron - Bath & Body Works Retired Candle

2. Formula Issues

Again, Raspberry Peach Macaron is another prime example for this theory. Anyone selling this 2014 candle online states that there is crystallization in the wax. Consumers have called corporate regarding this issue and were ensured that ‘this was an ongoing problem for this specific scent and it wouldn’t effect the overall burning experience.’ Maybe the company wanted to bring this fragrance back but just couldn’t solve the wax crystallization issue. However, I haven’t heard of this happening to any other candles.

3. Collection Size

It’s no secret that Bath & Body Works always brings back it’s returning “favorites” each season in multiple collections. Maybe they are well aware that we want the other scents to come back too but know that Marshmallow Fireside, Leaves, etc are better sellers. Having been involved with the process of creating lines of products before, I know higher ups give marketers a specific number of slots to fill with products. It could really be as simple as this; BBW looking at their sales and not having the shelf space or sku’s available for our other rare favorites.

These theories of mine may not be correct at all or maybe it’s a mixture of the three. No matter the reason, it would be nice to see some of the best scents from the past several years brought back again. Even if it’s just one more time in a ‘Fan Favorites’ collection! Or it would be nice if they rotated our their retuning favorites each year. Hopefully one day Bath & Body Works will listen to us and we will be able to get our hands on these fragrances again at a decent price!

Hey, fellow melters! I hope the weather has been better where you live lately; in RI it’s been almost 100 degrees with extremely high humidity. It’s safe to say that I’m craving the cooler Fall days at this point. (FYI Dunkin Donuts is releasing their pumpkin spice drinks & treats today so we are one step closer to Autumn!) Luckily, this past weekend our favorite two candle retailers had some really great deals going on which gave me the perfect reason to start stocking up on Fall home fragrances!

Wishing it was Fall Haul - Yankee Candle 50% off Sale

The first stop was Yankee Candle’s friends and family sale where everything (except accessories) was 50% off. I ended up picking up a medium jar of Olive Oil & Thyme, a medium pure radiance jar of Autumn Air, a small jar of Cranberry Chutney, and a new pumpkin shaped illumi-lid. PSA – Autumn Air is almost an exact dupe of Radiant Red Maple! Also, I couldn’t believe how much fragrance oil was dripping from the Cranberry Chutney. All together this purchase came to $35!

Wishing it was Fall Haul - Bath & Body Works 2/$24 Sale

The following day when I realized that Bath & Body Works had a 2/$24 sale, I rushed to the store because Chocolate Pistachio finally came in. I picked up one Pumpkin Spice (a repackage of Nutmeg & Spice) and one Chocolate Pistachio candle. Then, to use my $10 off $30 coupon, I grabbed two Crisp Morning Air soaps that were on sale for $3 each. This purchase came to $21 and with merchandise credit I didn’t pay anything out of pocket!

Wishing it was Fall Haul - Bath & Body Works 2/$24 Sale

On Saturday I made a trip to the closest White Barn which is an hour road trip.  There I grabbed a 3-wick of Pumpkin Pie and Pumpkin Banana Muffin. I was also lucky enough to find the Golden Autumn Day soap in-stock (which I have been wanting for the past month) and got the same deal. After using the rest of my merchandise credit I ended up paying $18 out of pocket – well worth the trip!

Wishing it was Fall Haul - Yankee Candle Outlet Sale

On our way back home we stopped at the Yankee Candle outlet in Wrentham, MA. I was itching to use the free large jar candle coupon with any $10 purchase. I couldn’t believe my luck when I saw Tarte Tatin, Rhubarb Crumble, and Paradise Spice sitting on the shelves. I quickly snatched the rare finds up and picked out Sugar Flower as my freebie. This  haul amounted to just $28.

I’d say that I’m pretty stocked up for this upcoming season now, at least until Cider Lane is released! It was nice to get out of the terribly hot weather for a bit and do some retail therapy. Did you haul anything during this weekend’s sales and are you excited for Fall? Share in the comments!

Happy 4th of July! To the wax community this great holiday is also signifying the final day of SAS for both Bath & Body Works and Yankee Candle. I don’t know about you but I’m ready for these sales to be over, BBW especially had a disappointing selection in my region. The best purchase I made was actually during the last week of the sale and I am so excited to show you what I found.

I ended up at Foxwoods casino, which surprisingly has a BBW outlet, and there was a beautiful table of overflowing candles. All the usual spring/summer scents and a ton of last winter’s fragrances. Nothing was especially catching my eye at first, but then I saw it. The super rare test candle Key Lime Pie just sitting there waiting for me to buy it.

Rare Finds at Foxwoods - BBW Key Lime Pie Test Candle

There ended up being 4 Key Lime Pie candles hidden on this table and I bought them all. No shame. I’ve since gifted one to my BFF and we both have been going crazy over this treasure. If you’ve ever smelled Yankee Candle’s Key Lime Pie and Vanilla Lime candles, BBW found the perfect balance between the two. Add in a hint of graham cracker crust and it’s just heavenly. The best part? These rang up at 75% and I had a coupon bringing the price to a little over $4 each.

This location also had a small selection of mini Fall candles. I was ecstatic when I saw Pumpkin Pie sitting there – I’m terrified this won’t make a comeback for 2016. I ended up picking up 5 of these little guys and they came to a little over $1 each. SCORE! (Finally.)

Rare Finds at Foxwoods - BBW Pumpkin Pie

When the $10 candle sale popped up later in the week I decided to head back to Foxwoods and try my luck again. This was the only store that had a half-decent selection so the trip was totally worth it. I ended up getting 5 candles (pictured at beginning of post) for $6 each after coupon.

I’m happy that SAS is over so we can begin to discover upcoming collections. (I especially can’t wait to find out what Fall test candles come out in the next week!) At least now I know which BBW location I should head to first for future sales. What was your best score during SAS? Share in the comments!

I have been psyching myself up for Bath & Body Works semi-annual sale for the past month. I created a list of candles and wallflowers I was looking to haul and almost took the day off of work. You would think since BBW has this loyal of a fan-base that they’d offer the same products everywhere. Wrong. I have not found a single 75% off candle at the closest 7 stores in a 2-hour radius.

After speaking with some other girls in the New England area, it seems that RI & MA did not get any of the 75% off treasures the rest of the US received. This is SO disappointing. Can you imagine if I actually took the day off of work only to find that nothing special was being offered around me? I may not be the biggest fan of Yankee Candle’s products, but at least the store is fair and offers the same scents everywhere. It’s not like my stores even sold-out before I got there. They never received ANYTHING from the previous Fall or Winter lines. To everyone who’s been able to find last year’s awesome scents that most likely won’t be available ever again, I am so jealous!

BBW Spring 2016 SAS Haul & Rant

Okay, now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, here are the only purchases I’ve made during this Spring SAS. Day 1 which was online only, I ordered 11 wallflowers and 1 candle. I was most excited about the Lavender Macaron scent coming out in wallflower form – so naturally I went a little crazy.

I did manage to find 75% off wallflowers in the scent Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake and stocked up. At the same time I luckily found one of the amazing fall body care fragrances from 2015 and picked up a couple shower gels. (Shown at top.) At another store, I wanted to reach $40 to use my coupon and the only notable items included in that purchase were 2 more candles and 2 more wallflowers.

BBW Spring 2016 SAS Haul & Rant

Even though I’m disappointed with this SAS, I have gotten a few good deals. I’m officially putting myself on a wax ban until Fall fragrances come out – I’ve got a lot to burn through in the next couple months! In the meantime, let’s hope BBW will step up their game for Winter SAS and stop re-packaging the same boring scents nobody cares for! 😉 Have you been one of the lucky ones to find some treasures during this SAS? Share your haul in the comments!

For the past 7 months, I’ve heard of these infamous glitches that Yankee Candle and Bath & Body Works occasionally have. Essentially, the store starts a new sale but the back end of their website hasn’t caught up. When these glitches occur, you can haul a ton of candles for an insanely cheap price. If you’re quick enough that is. Anytime I’ve heard about a glitch, I’m an hour late to the party and it’s already been fixed. But, this past Monday I was FINALLY able to take part in my first glitch purchase from YC and saved a total of $39! Here are the three scents I bought and my reaction to them on cold sniff.

Bakery Air – Just as the name of this candle states, this truly is a bakery scent. The actual scent description includes notes of creamy butter, maple extract, pecans, cinnamon, clove, and vanilla. To tell you the truth, I mainly pick up on the cinnamon. Hopefully once this is burning the scent will round itself out.

Caramel Pecan Pie – Let’s be honest, I love anything and everything fall related, so I had no doubt I would love this scent. But it is SO light on cold that I can barely detect it. I’ll still give this a chance, but I’m not setting my hopes too high for a stronger candle when burning.

Storm Watch – I normally am not a fan of fresh scents, but this one smells wonderful! It reminds me of both a misty Summer morning and how the air smells after a rain storm. I’m excited to light this up within the next month; hopefully YC will still have large jars in stock if I really like it!

Be on the look out for more detailed post-burn reviews of these in the coming months. I don’t have too many Yankee Candles in my collection so I’m happy this glitch brought some newness into my life! Have you ever burned any of these? If you have, tell me what you think of them in the comments!

Bath & Body Works has been functioning a bit out of whack this year, to put it lightly. Their collections have been both off-season and boring. Mix that with their oddly higher priced sales and it’s just pushing me away. They did randomly have an $11 candle sale online last weekend, most likely to get rid of inventory, so I decided to take part since I had a coupon. Each candle came to $8.80 in the end which resulted in a total savings of $78! Here’s what I hauled:

Watermelon Lemonade – This is definitely an overplayed scent, but a good one for Summer none the less. I surprisingly didn’t have any in my collection so this was an obvious pick.

Lavender Macaron – A new favorite scent of mine this year which will most likely never come back. Making sure I have many back-ups for years to come!

Island Margarita – I’ve always liked this fragrance but never enough to buy one. At $8.80 it finally felt like the right time to give it a try.

Tea & Lemon – After falling in love with the wallflower it was only right to pick up the 3-wick.

Mocha Latte Swirl – The best coffee scent BBW has created to date that’ll most likely never be seen again. Another favorite I’m stocking up on when they’re at the right price!

I know there’s not much excitement over these fragrances anymore, but you have to admit it was a great deal! Hopefully this purge from the BBW warehouse will make room for some better collections later this Summer and especially Fall! What’s the cheapest you’ve ever bought a BBW candle for? Can you believe that I’d never heard of Goose Creek until this past month? I heard rave reviews from multiple people in the wax community about one particular scent, so naturally I had to have it. This prompted my first GC haul which consisted of 10 wax melts that were luckily on sale. Below are my initial reactions to each fragrance upon cold sniff.

Blueberry Cake Donut – YUM! I’ve actually already melted this and it’s exactly how I wished every blueberry scent would smell. It has the absolute perfect balance of blueberry and bakery.

Watermelon Patch – Very fruity and fresh. Will go great with YC Juicy Watermelon.

Blackberry Parfait – An unfortunate disappointment. On cold sniff this was 100% a cologne scent. Upon melting it you get a hint of that fruitiness but it’s not at all what I expected.

Sipping Tea – Wow, this is a great one! It’s essentially BBW Tea & Lemon, minus the heavy lemon note. I can’t wait to melt this on a relaxing morning.

Strawberry Lemonade Cupcake – I couldn’t really decipher this scent on cold, so I’ve melted it. I barely get a bakery scent and there is only a hint of lemon. Mainly a “fake” strawberry fragrance which I’m not a fan of.

Goose Creek Haul & First Impressions

Peanut Butter Sugar – The infamous scent that pushed me to make a purchase! (I had already planned ahead and ordered two of this one.)  It smells wonderfully sweet with a mixture of waffle cone and peanut butter. Will try melting this ASAP!

Caramel Applewood – OMG! This is hands down a BBW Cider Lane DUPE! I’ve been looking for a dupe of CL for the past two years. Beyond excited.

Carrot Cake – Another wow! This actually smells like a freshly baked carrot cake and I’m in love. When is it appropriate to burn this spicy scent? All the time? Okay.

Campfire Marshmallow – An exact dupe for BBW Marshmallow Fireside. I don’t need to say anymore.

Overall, I’m already impressed with Goose Creek’s products. Every scent seems to be equally strong cold and when I burned the first few, they did not disappoint. Out of the three fragrances I’ve tried so far, they all become even more enjoyable when warm. I’m excited to discover more of this brand and stock up on some of my already favorites soon! If you’re a GC fan, what is your favorite scent? Share in the comments!
